In addition to the VERY popular post of The Three Degrees already in full effect, this is just a reminder to y'all about this particular hit that is very near and dear to each and every one of you, especially to the legendary SDF/MFSB member, Bobby Eli. "When Will I See You Again" (Phil. int. 3550) by The Three Degrees from their self-titled debut for the label charted on September 28, 1974 (according to the boxed set, "The Philly Sound", whearas also according to Joel Whitburn's "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits-1996 edition" charted on October 19, 1974-go figure) to its peak position of #2 pop (for 1 week), #4 r&b and #1 Adult Contemporary respectively, at a total of 20 weeks on the charts and eventually going platinum. The group, originally consisted of Fayette Pinckney, Linda Turner and Shirley Porter (the latter two eventually being replaced by Sheila Ferguson and Valerie Holiday in 1966), and discovered by producer Richard Barrett, first signed with label Roulette before moving on to Philadelphia International records in the early '70s. These fine ladies are to the '70s as the Supremes were to the '60s, when girl groups were all the rage in terms of popularity. It's amazing that Sheila is still performing (and STILL looking good as ever) as well as Valerie in her latest incarnation of the legendary girl group still touring the world and performing to the masses. But what ever happened to Fayette? I didn't really get in depth on the "3D" thread (a massive thread at that), but would love to know of her whereabouts and how she is doing these days. Of course, I got to ask Bobby about the sessions for this timeless song and any memories/pix he has in store for us "3D" junkies. Oh, by the way, when will they be inducted into the R&RHOF?

bigdaddy...You got some of your facts wrong but I will fill you in. Shirley and Linda were not replaced by Sheila and Valerie. They were replaced by Helen Scott and Janet Harmon and they along with Fayette were signed to Swan Records. That line-up lasted the first 3 years of the groups existance. When Helen left Sheila came in and when Janet left then Valerie came in. Then they signed to Roulette, then PIR. In 1976 Fayette left and she was replaced by her co-original member Helen Scott. Helen, Sheila, and Valerie signed with CBS, then Ariola where they had hits like "Woman In Love", "Giving Up Giving In", "The Runner" and "My Simple Heart". Sheila left Helen and Valerie in 1986. Helen and Valerie are still with the group along with Cynthia Garrison. They are not a new incarnation. Helen, Sheila, and Valerie parted ways with Barrett in 1981 and the court case ended after Sheila left but Barrett owns the rights to the name "The Three Degrees" in the U.S and so Helen, Valerie, and Cynthia cannot use it and be who they are. I got all this from the old forum and the new forum.
Check out their website at www.thethreedegrees.com
Helen, Valerie, and Cynthia did perform "When Will I See You Again" on the PBS Special "Rhythm Love, and Soul" that aired in 2003 and sounded phenominal.

I, however, have always preferred their initial
single for the label "Dirty Ol'Man". Still
sounds soooooo good.

" Dirty 'Ol Man" is still a popular record in the clubs all over Europe...but to be honnest When Will I See You Again, is their signature tune! and still sounds fresh and will always be! an all time Classic....there's no one who can sing it ad THE THREE DEGREES do, many tried....but...the original one is the best....thankyou girls for giving us this song...
