Does anyone know the whereabouts of Inez Foxx, most famous for 1963's "Mockingbird" on Symbol? I know her brother Charlie is no longer living. Inez was at one time married to Luther Dixon. Together they wrote the Platters' hit "I Love You 1000 Times". Anyone? |

Its funny you should mention Inez. Just last night, I was looking at one of my old RHYTHM AND BLUES magazines from 1964, and they had a page featuring then"new" female artists like Inez, Dionne Warwick, Brenda Holloway, etc. Inez had the biggest picture, as I recall. Sorry I don't know her present wherabouts. The last time I saw her was in some photos from a Rhythm And Blues Foundation ceremony five or six years ago. Checking on Soulwalking and other sites suggests she is still alive. She would be 62 now. One interesting item from the Stax Museum website was that the old studio has been re-built there..and Bobby Bland is due to record (some of)his next album for Malaco there. |

Coincidence, I just heard "I've Been Hurt By Love" on the radio not less than an hour ago. |

Yes, Inez Foox is still alive. There was an interview with her in "In the Basement" just a little while ago. She seemed thrilled that she had been remembered but didn't seem to want to have anything to do with showbiz. Is she in California now? Can't quite remember. What a great and very beautiful vocalist. |

Randy That article Motown David mentioned I managed to track down..it was published in November 2002...though the interview actually took place in mid 2001. Inez was living in California,as a housewife, though her husband had died a year before. She said she gave up the business because she had done enough touring and felt tired of it all. She remembered with affection though their Pioneer Award from the R and B Foundation in 95. |
