If you could go back in time...anytime to change the course of history in a celebrities's life who would you help and how?

I would try to pull Marvin Gaye's dad outside to calm him down, and try to remove Marvin and his mom from the house. Such a tragic loss...I loved him....

I would sit outside Michael Jackson's doctor's office, wait for Mike, and tell him that he DOESN'T need the damn surgery!! Plus I would tell him, for his own good he should stay away from those little boys!

I could probably think of more....I know you guys can think of some good ones!!

Billy Holiday's

Big Maybelle's

Jackie Wilson's

George "Smitty" Smith's

Jimmy Scott's

My own, while on the soul scene in the 60's.

Those who know of these heartbreaking stories in life, already know the reasons.

Hey Jr!

Kdub, I sure can't argue with your choices. Let me add the following:

Phyllis Hyman - Just to sit her down & try to make her understand that life isn't so bad after all. and to try to be a true friend & not a typical fan. To reassure her that one day, her ship would have come in.

Donny Hathaway - Just to try to stop him from falling out of that hotel window.

Little Sonny of The Intruders - Just to tell him to hang on in there & that things would have gotten better somehow.

Johnny Ace - Just to slap him & tell him to stop playing with that damn gun.

Darrell Banks - Just to grab him by the arm & get him away from that argument.

Brandi Wells - Just to try to keep her away from "friends" & bad influences.

Harry Ray - In a book, Al Goodman stated that Harry had put on a little weight & was drinking Slim Fast, which elevated his blood pressure, which was already high. I would have liked to tell him that perhaps a few of us fellas could jog & lose the weight that way.

Otis Redding - Just to tell him that the weather was just too damn dangerous to fly in. I would have told him that the world would wait a day to see him.

Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens & the pilot who decided to take off that fatal night. I'd have told them to get some hot chocolate, a couple of guitars & work on some music for the night. The weather was simply brutal that night.

Billie Holliday - Just to ask her what in hell was she thinking of? To remind her that she was too beautiful & too talented to go out like that.

Sam Cooke - Just to tell him to be careful. That he had far too much class to be hanging out where he was on that fateful night. When you roll like that, you gotta have someone watching your back.

Florence Ballard - To remind her of her talent & to try to take care of herself.

Jesse Belvin - Just to tell him to check his tires before he drove away.

King Curtis - Just to let him know that that damn junkie had a knife

Jimi Hendrix - To tell him that he didn't need those damn drugs.

Marvin Gaye - Just to tell him that those drugs do make you paranoid. And to try to convince him to get help for the inner demons that he was battling, which made him so self-destructive.

David Ruffin - Just to tell him that he was hurting himself. To remind him that he had too much talent to squander.

Freddie Prinze - Just to make him realize that he was only 23 & that life just couldn't be that bad.

Little Willie John - Just to try to chill him out & keep him away from drinking.

Al Jackson - Just to tell him to watch out & to come home just a little bit later that day.

Frankie Lymon - Just to slap him in the head & tell him to snap out of it. To make him realize than he should try to beat his addiction.

Yogi Horton - Again, just to remind him of his talent & that life could get better for him.

Selina - To tell her not to trust that theiving witch director of her fan club.

Tupac - To tell him that he was too talented to be giving in to that stupid "Thug Life" mantra. Also to remind him that he had entirely too much talent & could have done much greater things.

Billy Stewart - Just to be able to tell him that those brakes just didn't sound right.

Jackie Wilson - Just to try to let him know how much damage he was doing to himself with certain "medicines".

Notorious B.I.G. - Just to tell him that no 23 year old should be "Ready To Die". I'd have told him not to get caught up in those silly beefs & to continue to count his cheddar.

I'll try to think of a few more.

Hey Juice;
To add to your comments of these on your list:

Jesse Belvin-Should check why Ray Charles was afraid for his life when he fired his driver two weeks before Jesse hired him! Jesse was a briliant talent.

Little Willie John-didn't need the great equalizer in a pistol.

King Curtis-Should have learned to keep a more civil tongue, many knew one day that mouth of his would get him in deep trouble!

To the following I would say you didn't need that heroin:

Billie
Big Maybelle
Janis
Bird
Sonny Stitt
Chet Baker
Norman Johnson (J5)
and many many others.......

Hey S.S.

I forgot about that story about Ray's driver. I totally forgot about that story. I've heard at least 2 different account about that accident, that happened in the year of my birth. I grew up hearing my parents play the "Just Jesse Belvin" LP. It wasn't until 10 years ago or so, that I learned of his link to Barry White & Etta James in California. I had always thought of Etta as a Chicagoan.

I remember reading that Jesse was part of a caravan that was doing shows. A caravan that included Jackie Wilson & other R&B singers, many of whom had their tires slashed while performing.

I wonder which story is the correct one? i bet that Jackie knew!

Soul Sister,

I see you are a fan of jazz music!!

I would have to add my man Lee Morgan to this list...

I can remember reading somewhere about Jesse Belvin's death being suspicious....something about white supremacists and how his tires had been tampered with. I also recall reading a statement saying that he had recieved some death threats and how he had made a call to his mom(?) saying how hostile the crowds were in Arkansas(?) or wherever he had been touring in the south. I don't remember where I read this, I just remember reading it.

Hi Linda,

That's very sad to hear! I've heard of many of her torments, including one that I'd never mention here. Still, she was such a beautiful & talented woman & her birthday was a day before mine. I remember that she decided to leave us, a week before our birthday & I still remember the shock that I felt. It's just a sad situation!

So often people will say "if only I could have talked to her ..." things like that. It makes the people who truly loved her feel like they did nothing to help her. And truly that is not the case. Sometimes things just are what they are. I knew Phyllis for about 10 years. She called me a few weeks before she passed. And ya know what? With all my heart, I feel she's finally at peace. And she deserves to have peace, whether here or on the other side.

Linda Di,

I was just talking to my girlfriend about Phyllis over the weekend!! They all seemed to band together to protect and preserve her memory.

When someone takes their life (as my ex husband did) it's so....beyond anything you would think someone would do!! I had to explain this to two children (8 and 10)who absolutely adored this man (he was a wonderful father, so loving!) I didn't even know where to begin, I totally panicked for a minute, then I had to pull myself together. It took me a while before I could explain it to them...Four years!! Seriously, I didn't want them to think that he "wanted" to leave them, (If that makes any sense to anyone) they had just spent the previous weekend with him!

It's awful, it's one of the most hurtful ways to have someone die that you knew, know and love(d). You don't ever "get over" it, you just pick up the pieces, pray for their souls, and raise your kids (yourself!). It's mighty painful.

Linda,

That is so true. From all accounts, it appears that she made a well thought out decision to leave when she chose to. I believe that everyone did what they could to help her. I've read comments that her sister & brother made in the newsletter & I know that they tried to help her in every way that they could. In her case, I feel that she could have received help one day, as she had been diagnosed as being bi-polar. I believe that in time she could have overcome it, as long as she followed the instructions diligently.

I still find it horrible that such a beautiful, mulit-talented woman as she, sought peace through death. Her loss is tremendous & to this day, the entertainment industry still doesn't realize just how much they lost with her passing. I believe that Phyllis had so much more to give!

Hi this is Kev-Lo
My favorite soul legend Curtis Mayfield-I would have made sure that he did not come out on that stage until all of the equipment was set up properly so that it would'nt come down on him and he would not be hurt and maybe he would still be alive today.Because that accident helped bring on his death

Speaking of Selena, I would have had her husband and dad go with her to that woman's hotel room. She was already a coward, I don't think she would have tried anything with her dad and hubby there, she shouldn't have gone in alone.

I would have told Al Green to sit and talk to his girlfriend, and take a bath later....alot of heartache could have been avoided that day too..

Linda, I agree too.. I would have talked Aaliyah and her crew too into waiting for a better flight. One can only dream of what she could have become today. I would have sent that pilot on his way and asked him "you are kidding right?"

Hey Kev-Lo,

You're sure right about that. I was going to go to that show to see The Delfoinics. I didn't go, because it was just an absolutely brutal night. It poured, it was windy as hell & I didn't believe that there was anyway that that show would go on. Given the conditions, I thought that the show would be cancelled. I guess given the results, it should have been.

If I could do anything, I would've told the promoters to just postpone the damn show. The conditions were very adverse & ther's no way that the audience could've enjoyed the show under those conditions.

Frankie Lymon. I would have told him that he didn't have to despair about his career problems. He died in 1968 -- if he'd lived until the early '70's the first wave of "oldies revival" shows really caught fire and there's no doubt he would have been a big, big draw at them! Unfortunately, he couldn't have seen that he'd have a career revival and clearly found comfort in drugs...

Also, Clyde McPhatter. Another great, great artist, who died about a year before the oldies revival would have revitalized his career. Man, what a voice that man had! His last album was recorded in Philly and I wonder if Bobby Eli (or anyone else on the list) can share what it was like working with this legend...

Did you all know that the coroner said that had Aaliyah survived the initial crash......that she would have probably died because she had a weak heart? I read that and couldn't believe it. It said that she died of blunt trama to her head and she was severely burned. I can't believe that she couldn't wait to get home, it was reported that she was tired and just wanted to go home. If she was tired she could have just gone back and got a room and caught a flight the next day. But things happen the way they are meant to.

This is a Very Good thread...even if it's a little bitter~sweet.
All of the above has got me covered. except: Dinah Washington whatever was going on in your life, maybe we could talk about it with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist, cried it out, or something.
Barry White~Keep that Blood Pressure in check Bro, visit your Dr. and take your Meds...drop a few lbs.
Teddy Pendergrass~DO NOT drive with strange Females in your car, and stop asking them to come on over to your place after 2am, when the party's over.
Mary Well, Girlfriend put that cigarette down.
Mr. Whitehead of (McFadden & Whitehead)-Man whatever you've done, make it right & don't do it again...or something
Dusty Springfield-I really don't know, but I'm sorry she's gone
Karen Carpenter-Girl you look alright, just the way you are, You don't have to lose anymore weight.
Tom Jones-Hey Guy, you aint gotta show us your jewels, let us use our imaginationsometime.
Johnny Taylor-Man, Put that bottle down, get that blood pressure in check...see your Dr.
Janet Jackson-Ms. Girl, you are beautiful, that beautiful smile and those pretty cheeks...why did you get your face messed up like that? now you like a cat or something, right Feline-ish. (LOL).
Sonny Bono-and what made you go skiing that day?
Paul Williams(Temps)-Now you know I don't believe you shot yourself, right?...so who did U?
Eddie, David, Melvin-"I MISS U ALL"
Aretha-Girl you're like me, you cook too damn good.
Cher-You're up in there somewhere, where you at?

Marvin Gaye-Marv, Marvin, don't move back in that house with your parents, you know you and your dad don't get along...Get your own place and just call your mama sometime...and you need some help to get your mind back on track.
Medusa(me)-Girl, you should've jumped on any Bus going toward Hitsville USA that rainy saturday afternoon, you could've been part of Motowns' History.(smile)

Wow, it's kind humbling to think of all of these people lost too soon. I quess I would add:

John(Lennon)-Maybe you should use the BACK door of the Dakota sometime.
Keith(Moon)- OK, you've proven you can party the hardest. Now, slow down and try some plain tea. Give your buddy John (Entwistle) some too.
Oh, and the other John(Bonham), follow Keith...

It just goes on and on. No matter how often we see these distructive behaviors in people and these weird circumstances; it just keeps happening again and again. The airplane thing has happened enough that there's a saying among musicians: Always a jet, always commerical.

On the other hand I agree with some of you that God and fate often have their own agenda beyond what any of us can do. Which is why one of my favorite song lyrics goes:
What's gonna happen, gonna happen anyway
Gotta get over the hump!

Everyone everybody has stated above, adding:

Gregory Hines - not over this death yet...

Every original member of E, W, and Fire...just to bring back that power that group had back in the day..

Lionel Richie - rethink your options man...

Ray Charles - for obvious reasons...

Rick James - for obvious reasons...

Micheal Jackson - for MORE THAN obvious reasons, and as a matter of fact Id like to revamp the whole family and let them know 'Black Is Beautiful'...

Edmund Sylvers - great voice...

Elvis Presley - for obvious reasons...

Linda Jones - simply because she's #1 in my book...

Johnnie Taylor - cause he's my 'Love Bones'...

Whitney Houston/Bobby Brown - for obvious reasons

Left Eye - "cause the right eye is always right!"

James Brown - from having the 'woman beater' legacy treated about his person...

as always...Jackie Wilson right at the point of his last performance at the Latin Casino...

Marvin Gaye - at the point of the arguement with his father.

More later...

Tyrone Davis-Come on Tyrone, come on back, I think you still have a few more miles left on ya!
Linda Jones-Make sure you eat/take your meds before you go on stage.
Luther VanDross-Don't go to the extreme of losing weight, jut cut down the things you like to eat and lose the weight slowly.
Jaheim-Find you another record deal, that will bring your talent out. That gangsta stuff aint for you my Man. You are a helluva soul singer with a great voice, but you need to get with some good songwriters, producers, etc.

Hi Morgan;
My first love when I was on the scene in the 60's was R&B/Soul Music. I learned more about the Jazz scene when I hooked up with my husband Jimmy Scott, though I always loved his & Dinah Washington's voices, both of them crossed catagories of Jazz/Pop/R&B/Blues which equals Soul straight from the heart:-)!!

RE: Jesse Belvin's accident...Two weeks before Jesse hired his driver, Ray Charles fired him because he was hanging out all night with the band thereforebeing hung over and too tired to be alert for driving long distances on the road, they almost got into an accident! Ray warned the driver to stop hanging out at night but he didn't listen, Ray was afraid he would get into an accident and get them all killed so he fired him. Jesse wasn't aware of the circumstances when he hired this man to be his driver and looked what happened just a couple weeks later, how sad. R.I.P.

Hello Soul Sister,

I was at Border's this past Sunday and I came across JS autobiography and I thought of the pictures you had posted on this sight. Now you tell me that you're married to him? Honest, I had no idea! LOL!! I haven't been a member of this site for too long and I don't read all of the threads... Anyhow, congrats (belated) and you must pass on some of his stories regarding my beloved jazz folks! Better yet, knowing what I know, I will get the book!! (BTW SS, your replies to many threads suggests a truly warm individual).

Back to JB's death: I did a google search and came across this website which gave more info about what I posted earlier. Supposedly four hours before his death, his performance had been interrupted twice by white supremacists who urged the white kids to go home. He had recieved six death threats, and the state trooper who had arrived at the scene of the accident stated that two of the tires on his car had obviously been tampered with.

Who knows? Tampered tires? A driver with a bad rep for being a lousy driver? I smell a c-o-n-spiracy!!Back in those days, the above story dosen't sound too far-fetched. Then again, Ray's "spider senses" must have been pretty intense if he fired the guy and a few weeks later this incident happened.

Hearing of his death made me think of Clifford Brown's death. His wife and the driver (Richie Powell- Bud's brother) all died too.

The article (it was really an obituary written in 2003) also went on to state that no one in his circle believed that his death was an accident.

Hi Morgan;
LOL!! Thanks for the kind words & belated Congradulations!! Gee...I posted lots of those stories and tons of photos over the past almost 2 years I've been a part of SD Forum. Many photos from my chitlin' circut days and many on the road with Jimmy, mostly in the November 2003 Archives, hopefully we'll be able to access those again in the near future.
RE: Jimmy's bio, SO much has happened since the book was actually finished 3 & 1/2 years ago. At the time of finish I almost broke up with Jimmy, we were living together at the time and there was alot of bad interferrence in our lives at the time and Jimmy was drinking then too, so much as turned around and changed for the good since that time, it's a beautiful thing now for the most part.:-) I've helped take control of Jimmy's life and career and rid him of his life threatening old habits and bad influences. Thank God he lives a totally sober life today but wasn't left with out some health problems from his years of hard living. Thank God for the blessings that he's still here and still singing strong and beautiful!! He's a sweetheart, lol!!

Yes S.S.

I did read the account with Ray. Is it possible that a combination of slashed tires & a not too alert driver lead to this tragedy? If I remember correctly, I read that the car swerved several times, which could indicate that the driver was not operating at full capacity. I don't have her book in front of me, but I seem to remember that Etta James found the accident to be very fishy & stated that there were several death threats issued. Am I remembering correctly?

What make this even sadder, is that Jesse's wife died from her injuries sustained in that crash. Accounts have stated that she lived long enough to learn that Jesse had died & she soon died as well. I always wondered if that was creative story telling or fact. God, I wish that there had been an internet back then. It would have been interesting to read the accounts.

Soul Sister,

The whole scene back then, the way in which the black musicians had to travel, eat, etc..was sad!!

The amount of resilence and patience these artists had to have was amazing. Their obvious love for their music was very strong indeed.

As I stated earlier, the story that I have relayed here is on a website about dead muscians (I can't recall the name of it). It's a pretty interesting site (if you're morbid!)

A swerving car could also indicate tampered tires.

Hello Submarine To All!

There are sadly so much untimely dead artists...!

All the above mentioned and some others as:

-O. V. Wright (I read he had problems with alcohol)
-Joe Tex (had a heart attack on stage)
-Jaco Pastorius
-Johnny Williams (I believe he dead little after he recorded "Slow Motion", perhaps very young and ignore the cause)
-Shorty Long also was very young when died in a traffic accident
-Also, in another traffic accident, died the great Billy Stewart
-More recently, in latest 90's, died a very good guitarist, Zachary Breaux, trying to save the life of another person in danger in a beach. This tolds a radio DJ in Spain in a Jazz-fusion radio program.

There are so much unponderable factors that could ending the life of a person in seconds as the accidents. Perhaps the most sad is some autodestruction cases because the drougs and alcohol abuse or some artists who comited suicide. These are the cases where could be worth to back in time and trying to "change the biography" of some artists. Some artists says that the fame implies the feeling of deep lonely...!

Peace & Soul Food

If I could go back, I'd get the very young Michael Jackson & tell him that Black is indeed beautiful. I'd tell him to put away the toys & to get out & enjoy life. Kiss a few girls & just try to get him off of that pied piper idea. I'd try to be a real friend & not a yes man. I would have tried to tell him that sensitivity is fine, but there are extremes.

I would have liked to speak with the adult MJ & tell him that running around with Webster & Bubbles on his shoulder, wasn't such a great idea. I would have also told him that it's not a good idea for adults to have kids sleep in their beds....EVER!!! I'd have also told his that he should've stopped with the cosmetic alterations after Thriller. I would have also told him to stop with the Sgt. Pepper outfits & to tone down the egotistical practice of jocking himself with the "King Of Rock, Pop & Soul" B.S. I would've told him that his insistance upon doing so, merely made him a relic of the past, not an innovator of the present.

I'm feeling you Dyva & I know where you're coming from. As I'm in an expansive mood today (as well as every other day that ends with the word day), I'll say what you DIDN'T SAY!!

I would also have told the young MJ to never forget WHO he was & from Whence he came. I would have reminded him that he meant a lot to thousands of broad nosed, dark skinned little girls & boys, whom looked up to him. I would have admonished the adult MJ that his alteration of his skin tone & features, was a slap & an insult to those same kids who idolized him & sent out a VERY negative signal to them. Hey, if the great MJ isn't happy with his color & obvious features........... Regardless of all of the psychoanalysis & "medical reports", it was & still is an affront to all of his fans of color, vitiligo, notwithstanding.

I would have also told him not to continue to distance himself from the core audience who made him who he was from the very start. Face it, you can't spend 20 years altering your skin tone, your hair, your eyebrows & your features, then, in time of self-inflicted trouble, have the balls to scream racism! Hell, Michael is the last one who should ever scream racism. Since Thriller, it seems as though Michaels' whole thing was about being anything but Black!

All I ever saw was Liz Taylor, Brooke Shields, McCauley Culkin & Bubbles. When he incessantly ran all of those damn pre-concert trailers, all I saw were a bunch of people, not of color, screaming & fainting, like it was the return of all 4 Beatles & Elvis. That's the image that HE put out there, he can't blame anyone else for that.

This brother crossed over like no one crossed over. He definitely had his escape from the ghetto pass & damned if he didn't take it & run with it! FAR AWAY WITH IT!!! This is a man, who could have dated any girl in the 90210 Zip code & other parents would have fallen all over themselves to slip him their daughters phone numbers & maybe their wives numbers as well. He was that beloved & non-threatening. Hell, he was SPECIAL & tremendously beloved WORLDWIDE, wierd behavior notwithstanding! He was so damn dominant, that he was even accepted by Germany, a country where 40 years earlier, they would have been checking his spine to see his tail! He did all of that damage to himself, through his own hand & now has to nerve to want to "come back home", as it were & claim racism!!

Two words come to mind: BULL SHIT!!!!

To me, he kinda betrayed his own, by trying so damn hard not to LOOK like, or HANG with his own. Then, he marries Elvis' daughter, hires a Causasian woman to be the bearer of his children, then when his LPs don't sell, he screams racism!! That's an insult to our collective intelligence. Of the millions of people that live in close proximity to Neverland, he chose to hang out with who????

Elizabeth Taylor, McCauley Culkin & a damn monkey named Bubbles!!!

What was that about racism again??? I would have told him that you simply can't do these types of things & expect no "collateral" damge to occur.

However, he wouldn't have listened. I'm sure that others were telling him to chill, as well. I love Michael Jackson & I don't believe that he did any of what he's accused of. I refuse to think that he did any of that. However, it's not exactly a stroke of genius to continue to have sleep overs & state that such behavior is fine....especially in front of an audience of millions!! I question his judgement, his lack of love for his looks. I'll always remember him for the pride that he gave many of us when he was 10, someone that we could watch on TV & feel proud of. Michael meant a lot to us & when he blew up with Thriller, damn, was I even more proud. However, I reserve the right to be disappointed in him as an adult for all of the reasons that I've stated above. Most of all, that what I feel....grave disappointment. I feel that he took all of this to extremes & that does disappoint me greatly. For turning himself into a caricature & for the not so subtle subliminal messages that he sent to many of his admirers, I am disappointed.

AHHHH, what the hell!!!

Hello Kev-Lo Mr. Barrow, son of civil rights activist The Rev Willie Barrow of Operation Push died of complications from AIDS in October of 1983. He was born in Sept 1954. He was responsible for a famous Chicago Stepper cut entitled "You Know You Want to Be Loved" and the Disco smash "Turn Me Up", for those not familiar his voice was like a combination of Eddie Kendricks and Russell Thompkins.

Soulseeker you are not alone. Paul was my favorite Temptation and not only that he was the coolest Tempt...the manly Tempt...

Juice, great post about unohoo.....you made me want to revisit my piece on him on another thread. I think it was the Michael vs. Elvis ? Like the Dyva said revamp the whole family.....

Dyva...I too am not over the death of Brother Hines, I have been a fan of him and his family (Hines, Hines & Dad) almost as long as I can remember, dam this kid used to be on the Mike Douglas Show seemingly every other week. Based upon his talent and show biz moxie I figured him to be around a long time. Thanks for making me remember We lost a great one.....

James Lee Jamerson, one of the best bass players to ever walk the planet! While some might not think of him as a "star", he was surely a star to some of us. Those of us familiar with the original "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown", (the book by Alan Slutsky) know that this great talent left us much too soon.

I'm not sure if I could have had any influence on his life, to curb some of his destructive tendencies, but I wish I could have been given the opportunity. RIP James.

Kdubya,
Im glad that you mentioned Keith Barrow.
I produced his first album and we became great friends.

I produced the album in 1977 and aids wasnt an issue then, but if I could have been a "prophet" I would have had a man to man talk with him and tell him to stop messin' with those boys.

he was avery inteligent young man and the son of REV. Willie Barrow, a close associate of Jesse Jackson who started Operation Breadbasket.
Keith knew many people who became huge in their respective fields, if only Keith could have ben one of them too!

I know he's not within the scope of SD (is Lennon?), but here comes, 35 years too late, "Smile"

Hey Douglas,

I believe that the men whom you mention, definitely belong. Where music is concerned, tragedy is tragedy. This may sound strange to some, but we can't seperate either The Beatles or The Beach Boys from serious discussions of Soul music.

Both groups expansive & innovative musical ideas most definitely influenced Soul music. Sgt Pepper was the 1st LP that was done with a thematic concept. Before that, most LPs were a bunch of single releases, thrown together with some filler. This idea of a cohesive LP was soon followed by just about all Soul artists.

The innovative production approaches of The Beach Boys (i.e. Pet Sounds, the use of the theremin on Good Vibrations), as well as The Beatles aural forays (reversing the direction of recorded music & sounds), informed much of Soul & Funk music, for years to come. A lot of their ideas were used by Soul artists & as such, they are definitely worthy in being shouted out in this forum.

Good choices, as we tend not to consider their influence in not just Soul music, but ALL music. Music hasn't sounded the same since they broadened the scope! We're all richer for it too :-)

I would go and re program the minds of all of the sheisty record execs who ripped off so many great and talented people, and caused some to meet a sad demise.
I would re calculate all the accountings and make them all in favor of the artist.

I would breathe new life into my dear, departed MFSB brethren and continue where we left off, except with fat bank accounts and happy lives.

I'd want to go back to 1995 to stop Selena from going to the Days Inn where Yolanda Saldivar murdered her. I heard that she hesitated going to the hotel to confront Yolanda. I guess that's what they mean by listening to your gut instincts. At least I was alive at that time.
