So which of these Philly icons do you prefer, the cool balladeer or the soulful front man of the Ethics/Love Committee? I must admit, I have a hard time choosing my favorite from these two. What say you? Best, Mark |

I'll take Ronnie Dyson any day. I received his all time hits cd a few weeks ago and I love every song on it. There was something in his voice that sends chills up my spine. I especially like the song Emmie. But the song that we jam to is The More You Do It. I found that a lot of people has never heard that song but they love it when they hear it. It is definitely a party record. He's most known for If You Let Me Make Love To You(then why can't I touch you). That is his signature song. I didn't know he died in 1990. |

In my opinion, the most underrated song by Ronnie Dyson is All Over Your Face. That was one song made for dancing & IMO, doesn't receive the notice that it deserves. Mark, I have to choose Ron Tyson. You have to also factor in his great work with The Temptations. His work with The Temptations pushes him WAY over the top! (Message edited by juicefree20 on September 27, 2004) |

Ron Tyson certainly seems to have had the better career but Ronnie D had a very special voice and made one or two spine tingling records. He also took lead roles on Broadway. I still think his version of When You Get Right Down to It is the best despite a slightly mushy mor-style arrangement. Also Why Can't I Touch You and he could wail as Chuck Jackson and Marvin Yancy had him prove on The More You Do It. One of those singers who had loads of talent but didn't seem to either quite make the move to the bigtime or get the breaks. |

Ronnie Dyson also had a hilarious cameo in the cult classic film "Putney Swope", singing a jingle for Face-Off acne cream. Best, Mark |
