That CD is a gem - I play it every couple of months and find new favourites.

The tracks that really impressed me first time 'round were
The Fantastic Four's version of "If This World Were Mine",
KIm Weston's "Stop ! In The Name Of Love"
and The Underdog's Mitch Ryder-styled version of
"The Way You Do Things You Do"

The interesting thing is that you picked a different set of favourites to mine - time to
listen to it again :-)

I'm feeling Gladys on "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," but my favorite track is Blinky's "Hunter." She is out of control on that! (In a good way.)

Hey Jimmy mack!

This is a excellent cd! I'm sorry Gladys (as usual) made "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me", her own.

I like Blinky's rendition of The Hunter Get Captured By The Game, and I laugh everytime she sings the line, Love Hit Me Like A Sudden Slap, and the Andantes go "OH", like somebody just slapped the hell out of them, ha ha!

I am crazy anout this CD and am surprised there hasn't been a Volume 2 by now.
The Blinky cut for me was the gem, but I like mostly everything on it. I like the Velvelettes' version of "Everybody Needs Love" but wish I had Jimmy Ruffin's version on CD. I was shocked that it was not included in the double Cd put out recently -- but then, they left off his version of "As Long As There is L-O-V-E, too...
Definitely could have done without the J-5 cut in favor of something else.

The Cellarful of Motown cds are great too.

I love Tammi Terrell's-All I Do Is Think About You (later recorded by Stevie Wonder). It is said Brenda Holloway has a version of this song in the vaults.

On the Treasure Memories CD, I Love Little Stevie Wonder's Rawness on "I Hear a Symthony, but David Ruffin, Gladys Knight,The Originals and Gladys Knight are all tied for second.

It's so good how we all have different tastes.

One real dud I thought was Temps -Truly Yours-they sang it like Aint Too Proud and lost the meaning I thought-but I guess Im comparing it to the Spinners! Nobody else has mentioned Miracles Grapevine-what did you all think-wasnt that the original version?

The album says Smokey's was the first version though he apparently re-did his vocals with one version going on the album Special Occasion and the other finally ending up on Motown Treasures.

When you all speak of Motown sings Motown you have to give credit to Andre Harrell when he was in charge at Motown at the time, and the same man who went and dug up Marvin Gaye's Vunerable, the same man that was executive producer of the action sitcom of New York Undercover.

Don,

If I recall correctly, MSMT was the work of HW & Adam White with input form the usual supects found on the most recent Motown compilations.

I don't remember Andre Harrell's name in the credits.

I think this compilation was released in 1998 whilst the company was still under Polygram.

Cheers

Paul

Speaking of TV shows, anyone remember "Platinum?" Those 4 or 6 pilot episodes were pretty good, but they should have continued the show.

Sorry for the diversion!
