Hi Folks....
Now this is just a dream, but I think a great movie could be about the life and times of a Soul FM station in the 70's. My question to you is what DJ's, record and radio people should be portrayed and who should play them?
Leon as Frankie Crocker
Don Cheadle as Donnie Simpson
And finally what songs must be in the movie?
Have fun with it
Dave

NO! NO MORE LEON!
The one who could play him, ironically is Michael Wright - Eddie Cain Jr. The physique is more appropriate, and the nose.

Don Cheadle as Donnie Simpson?...what the...?!
Lets go here: Terrance Howard as Donnie Simpson.

Eddie O'Jay could be played by John Witherspoon. There is a slight resemblence and the sense of humor is similar.

more later...

Excuse me Ms. Dyva, you guys have got to find a spot for Mr. Jeffery Wright after seeing him play in Shaft, Basiquat, MLK ....he can play anything and anybody......I agree Leon hit his peak as David Ruffin and that is where his musical portrayals should have ended.......

Jeffrey Wright, because of his looks can pass for hispanic. He could play PACO of NYC's, WKTU fame.

In a scene from Cooley High, where Cochese comes home to look for a letter he's been expecting from a college school. In the background you'll hear WVON's E. Rodney Jones speaking and spinning a blues record.

How about the DJ's from the 60's, even better with Frankie Crocker, Rocky G, hell all WWRL's jockeys. Murray the K (NY), Hal Jackson (NJ), Jocko Henderson, Georgie Woods (Philly), Bob King (DC) "Soulfinger",etc...

Dyva Naye;
I agree Michael Wright as Frankie Crocker, he looks more like him and is a wonderful actor!!
Billy Dee Williams as Ralph Cooper. :-)

Maybe Jeffery Wright could play Hal Jackson, then maybe not (?) LOL!! Leon Kennedy could have made a perfect look for Hal Jackson.

Even though Cooley High's story was based about Chicago in 64, but the movie DID come out in the 70's.
