Well D-Town soulies...when and where? Let's keep this monthly tradition going! I'm outta town next weekend but the following is good by me. Weekdays seem to be better in terms of crowds. I've got some new stuff...killer! |

I'd like to propose an alternate location: Tenny Street Roadhouse in Dearborn. www.tennystreet.com Tuesdays and Thursdays are off nites and the owners are very conducive to large parties and "private sound systems".(this Thursday is wide open) Depending on the size of the party, the house P.A. is even available. Although the WAB is a wonderful location, it has become less enjoyable for me due to our inabililty to control the house jukebox. The comraderie at these events is great, but for me hearing these records is PARAMOUNT. |

I bet Joe Moorehouse would like that, being closer to Ann Arbor and all. My question Leo is "Does the Tenny have a cover charge as posted on the web-site calendar"? Also does it make it's own brews?????? |

Brian, Tenny Street is actually two rooms. *A large "showroom" were admission is charged most often on the weekends for national and large local acts. Seats approx. 300. There are some Thursdays this month in the main room that are not presently booked. Joe Weaver and James Harmon appear this Friday. *The front room is more of a Pub/Restaurant with seating for approx 100. There is never a cover in the front room. Alas, Tenny is not a microbrewery although they do have a fine selection of draft and bottled beers. They also do a respectable job with their Cajun/Creole menu. Should we vote on a Tuesday or Thursday ? (Message edited by leo_b on September 13, 2004) |

Leo: I contacted the Tenny and spoke with the manager Dewey. They will get back to me, he feels we could do it in the back room on an off night. No vote yet Leo. |

Tenny Street sounds good to me. Do we want to go any bigger than the portable? I could bring my tables and a p.a. |

You wouldn't need need your PA, but do bring the turntables! I am Chairman of the Detroit Blues Society and we meet there and they are very nice to us. Remember, Joe Weaver will be there this Friday as a matter of fact. |

Hello All: I will call and set a time at the Tenny for hopefully the 23rd of the month. No I don't want to set up turntables and a PA system. This is not a dance, it's a get together where people talk , listen to some tunes and enjoy each others company. I would be up for doing a dance type thing. I was a billboard award winning club jock for over 25 years so I do know a little about that type of event. But the SD45CC shindig is not that type of event!!! Honestly not really sold on the Tenny. The WAB and Ferndale is a good central location for many people. Dearborn is pretty far in left field from the downtown area. But I will go and give it a try. Will let you know the when and the time for the shindig soon. |

Anyone who remembers Jimmy Lessnau, who used to run Sully's in Dearborn, should email me about Tenny Street. |

Brian...I am partial to The WAB also. Tenny Street sounds like an interesting place, but as you know, I'm a middle aged old fart who is a creature of habit and, therefore, resistant to change LOL. In addition, Dearborn isn't exactly my favorite place for entertainment (or anything else for that matter), but that's a different can of worms. Either way, I'll go with the flow. Tenny Street or WAB are both okay, whatever you guys decide on is fine with me. |

I hear you Gary. But who knows it could be really fun! I got an email forwarded to me from Lowell about a fellow in Cleveland who was asking if the SD45CC was open to anybody? It makes me relize that none of the old archives can be seen on the site now and how Tim from Cleveland or any new or current member can not check out what has happened in the past!! Lowell we need to fix this, there is too much good stuff realting to music and music related events that we just can't get access to anymore. Yes TIM the SD45CC is open to all, you do not need to own 45's, but if you do bring them with you and you should hook up with Mark S. from Cleveland and come up together. Once again the SD45CC is open to everyone!!! |

Anyone opposed to doing both events...a mellow get together at the wab and a dance night at Tenny? although I'm not sure any of you want to see me dance! |

Adam, If we ever get it together for the regular monthly thing, I'll introduce you to the Tenny owners. Perhaps a "Soul dance" night would fit into their calendar. Otherwise, Thursday the 30th is still open in the mainroom for any size event. I suggest we finalize something. Brian ?? |

Hello All: I have been away for the last week for work without access to the forum. I would like to get together next Tuesday at The WAB in Ferndale at the regular time 7:30 or so. We can look at doing the Tenny thing either later in the week such as friday as Leo has mentioned or the following week and see if they would be open to a monthly Soul Shindig. I have the experience as a club jock (25 years)and a collection that is large enough to be able to play 60's to 80's soul and make most people happy and be attractive to a larger group of individuals. So I believe this could be a good thing if done properly. Most people like the WAB and the atmosphere and the layed back smoozing, drinking, dining and chooons it provides. The tunes are the common denominator in the mix, but the interaction of individuals is really what makes the whole thing sizzle! Leo I am up for any type of get together Joe Moorehouse and I have met alone to listen and buy tunes, Brian T and I have done the same to listen to tunes. So if it is paramount to hear the tunes I would be more than glad to get together and listen to tunes and tunes only on a regular basis, you can bring your favorite listening device with you when we get together and enjoy listening to them at your leisure. Contact me at 248-462-3910 so we can talk about the Tenny and getting together to listen to tunes |

I haven't been able to make your monthly due to in the week restrictions, but if anyone is up for weekend partying and hearing some real good, mostly Detroit soul and R&B 45's played fairly loud on a nice system check out the Comet Bar at Park & Henry down town on Saturdays from 10pm. We call it The Golden Worm. We've got Fine Wine on October 16. |
