You're a concert promoter. You got lots of $$, so that's no object. This would be YOUR own fantasy concert. Who would be in the line-up?
By Juicefree20 (151.205.106.125) on Monday, March 15, 2004 - 09:40 pm: |

Mary, Jean and Cindy.......I was lucky enough to see them in concert once and WOW!
By Richard Felstead (195.92.168.172) on Monday, March 15, 2004 - 10:21 pm: |
I think my perfect concert would be seeing and hearing the late Ella Fitgerald in her prime, followed by the one and only Frank Sinatra, in his prime.
So I guess you'd be talking about the late 60's for the pair of them.
The very thought of it is enough to make me.....
I don't think I can phrase it politely so nuff said.
:-))
By Juicefree20 (151.205.106.125) on Monday, March 15, 2004 - 10:30 pm: |
I HATE TYPOS! Now, I don't know about that group Bloe Magic, I meant BLUE Magic. Ted, Wendall, Bobby E, I'm sorry for the typo.

I'd love to see a Woodstock-type of concert that moved through my three favorite genres:
I'd start off with The Temptations.....followed by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Smokey, The O'Jays, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, Minnie Riperton, The Rascals, Earth Wind and Fire, Maze, Clyde McPhatter, Sam Cooke, The Drifters, The Flamingos and the Isleys. Curtis Mayfield, Jerry Butler and the Impressions would close it out.
Then onto the set would walk Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer (who would high five Curtis as he left the stage), and Peter Tosh. Backing them up would be the Wailers band. They'd be followed by Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, The Itals, The Meditations, The Mighty Diamonds and U-Roy. Gregory Isaacs would close it out....
Intermission tribute speech by Gil Scott-Heron....
Then Miles Davis would hop on stage with John Coltrane. Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt would follow.....then Benny Goodman. Then we'd have Clifford Brown come on for a set.....eventually joined by Wynton Marsalis. And the big grand finale would feature Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Louis Armstrong and their orchestras all onstage together for a gigantic super jam! Singing with the bands for a few tunes would be Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis and Dean Martin!
Everyone would return to the stage for a bow......and would all sing a spiritual tune together like Mayfield's "Amen"......
I swear, I think I'd cry. Maybe this is what we'll all get to see if we make it to Heaven. I know it's on my request list for God, anyway.

If every group that I cherished in the 60's and 70's reunite and just perform at a humongous SOUL SPECTACULAR....and a few of the solo artists too
...also if GOD could turn back the hands of time and let Bobby Eli and his whole crew give that one last perfomance...and Barry White and Love Unlimited...Jackie Wilson...Linda Jones...Tammi/Marvin...let me stop, Im starting to get emotional...sniff...sniff...

The perfect concert would be the current "Ladies' First" tour if Beyonce and Alicia Keys performed nude (with encores) and Missy Elliot came through the audience passing out money (with clothes on).
Wait, or maybe if Beyonce and Alicia mingled with the audience nude and Missy Elliot passed out money from the stage (with clothes on and an encore)... hmmm, which is better?

The Beatles were a GREAT studio band. As for live? I have a few bootlegs (some excellent quality) and they weren't really that great live.
But just to say you were able to see them! That would be great!

Both acts were red hot that summer and the concert was surreal!

Well, since I started this thread, it's been great to read what everybody wants in a concert. If I win that Mega Millions someday down the road (or this weekend), I'm going to hook up all these artists who are still with us, fly all of us somewhere, and have our own SD Woodstock. Just imagine ....
By GTO (68.41.20.56) on Thursday, April 01, 2004 - 10:46 pm: |
The Original Delfonics would be great.
