When I was in the 5th or 6th grade (1971 or 72)
The kids in my class danced to a a song called "I know I'm in Love". I think it was an east coast song since no one over here (California) has heard of it. It was 2 kids...a boy and a girl. After that one song I never heard from them again.
Does anyone remember these 2 kids?

There was another song by some little boys that year that sound like the old Jackson Five..it was called "I'm just falling in love". I THINK that was the title. The lead singer's voice was so squeaky...I can't remember what he was singing! LOL The group was the Ponderosa twins!

Chee Chee & Peppy were siblings discovered by record producer Jesse James (the composer/producer of The Fantastic Johnny C's "Boogaloo Down Broadway" among other hits).

"I Know I'm In Love" was released on Buddah Records in late 1971.

Hey jrlo,
The cut you're talking about by the Ponderosa
Twins is called, " Bound". They had two other
cuts, one was Sam Cooke's remake, " You Send Me",
and the other was, " I Remember You", which was
the B side of, " Bound". They were from Cleveland,
Ohio.

Chee Chee & Peppy were Keith "Chee Chee" Bolling & Dorothy "Pepe Pepe" Moore from Pennsylvania. They have one other 45 that I am aware of: Never, Never, Never B/W Loving You Really Comes Easy (Buddah 254 - 1971).

J5 collector,

Wow thanks so much for sharing that!!! I only remember what they looked like from their album cover! Now that you have shared the picture, I would LOVE to find a copy of thier record!!
They looked soooo young!!!!! :)

Jrlo, I've never seen their album, but I would love to. It's come up on ebay a few times, but I always get outbid. I don't ever remember seeing it for sale back in the early 1970s. If I had, I would have gotten it for sure. I do have their 45s, and remember that they got quite a bit of airplay on soul stations in the early 1970s.

Slyfan, Chee Chee & Peppy did two albums...

One on Buddah in 1972 with no title and another one in the early 80's (super hard to find) called SUPER YOU on the Branding Iron label...

I was at that very same Jackson Five concert. In fact, my sister had started a Philly J5 fan club, which I thought was a joke, a laughingstock, until we went to the Spectrum that night, they told me to watch their coats while they all got up. I thought all the girls were go to the restroom at the same time. They came back with polaroids of them with the Jackson Five! I was dying! Apparently my sister's club was legit and had gained access to the brothers before they went onstage. They met the J5 and took pictures and had me watching coats! On top of that, my dad was the chaperone with the fancy, top of the line polaroid camera. He shot all the pictures. It took me years to stop hating them both for thinking a boy would not have wanted to meet them! I would have been king of my school!

Thats so cool for your sister Andre98, but I don't blame you being P.o.'d. It reminds me of the time I had a letter from Ike Turner & was able to get backstage to meet Tina & The Ikettes and left my brother & a friend at the stage door...my brother was fuming...until I brought out Esther Jones(our fave Ikette) to meet him.

I am 36 years old and I remember that song. My sister and I use to pretend that we were Chee Chee & Peppy.Up until right now, I never knew what they looked like. I just played the record about 3 weeks ago.

The Plus One in the Ponderosa Twins is Rickey Spicer not Spencer. The Elements (later Moving Violation) member, Mark Anthony actually sings the opening lines of the Ponderosa Twins Plus One's biggest hit "You Send Me." I Remember You" was also recorded by the O'Jays but it remains unreleased, as the tape is either lost or destroyed. Chuck Brown never produced a record in his life, couldn't do it if he tried, regardless of what the label credits says.

F.Y.I. Arman Howard Lovett the older brother of Lee Lovett (S.O.U.L.) was brutally murdered a few nights ago along with his friend. Howard, his friend and Howard's girlfriend were tied up in the basement of Howard's home and shot in the head. His girlfriend survived.

All well and good...but what the public really need to see are pics of 'Pepe the poodle' as featured on Pricilla Paige's, 'Throw the poor dog a bone' for Topper out of Detroit? Did Pepe record any other tracks...was she a real bitch/he a hound-dog...we need to know! :-)

Wow...I have the Ponderosa Twins single "The Bitter With the Sweet"! It actually sounds good played at 45 RPM & 33 RPM! You get a more adult sounding track played at the slower speed.
