I was sitting here thinking of Motown and I was thinking if Motown was under my control I would make so many changes to the label as of right now and fast.

First thing I would close the L.A. & New York Offices. Then open up offices back in the Donovan building in downtown Detroit.

Second, I would appoint myself as President, and then hire back the funk brothers and let them make music one more time for the road. Then I would have to re-hire some folks from the marketing department from Motown back in the 60's & 70's, and writers as well to talk to current staff who hold the same position they did.

Last, I would clear off some of today's artist on the Motown roster and keep a selected few. Hold auditions, and put the real music back into our lives.

What a powerful record producer I would be then..lol Its great to have a poweful mind.

What I would do to pay true homage to the ORIGINAL artists & the ORIGINAL lineups. No more of that "I'm the star" crap. If anyone wanted to participate in a Motown production, there would be NONE of that replacement crap tolerated. If there are any performers who are willing & able to perform, that group en toto, must perform together. If the star of the group had a significant solo career, I'd let them perform their solo hits as well. Anyone unwilling to put aside their differences for the sake of history, wouldn't be able to participate, POINT BLANK!!! I would also tell the world why they didn't participate in the function. I would also feature the lesser artists & give them more than a 20 second mention. It couldn't be done in one show, so, I'd do it for as many shows as it took to get it right.

I would also get the reissues right for a change. I would stop regurgitating the same old "Greatest Hits" packages. I would make ALL of the Motown singles available in box sets. This would include ALL singles on subsidiaries as well. If Stax could do it, Motown can do it.

That would be how I'd start it off.

What can I say? I'm tired of the fans getting screwed & the lesser known group members getting crapped on. I want to see everybody shine for a change. The stars have had their moments of glory, why shouldn't the others get their turn? Sounds fair to me. Now Stonewall, I know that a great fan with your pedigree is into the real thing. Your passion about the music tells me that much. Wouldn't you agree that there's nothing better than the authentic???
