Finally got a photo to post. This was taken at the party immediately after Motown 25 at the Pasadena shopping mall. Note: I went to the taping and was able to "crash" it. Hence, no makeup and in jeans!

Linda Di - You were lucky, or rather, I should say blessed to have been there and reached out and touched Marvin with your camera.

If you asked me to describe Mr. Gaye, only one word comes to mind: a gentleman. He was the epitome of a gentleman and I feel blessed to have spent a few moments with him.

Linda Di, it is 12:52 am 4/5 and I should be in the bed, but I just had to come here and try to catch up a little bit. I just celebrated my 39th birthday 4/4. I've been thinking about Marvin Gaye all week, as I always have done since 4/1/84.
I payed tribute to him by playing my cds 4/1 & 4/2. When I saw that picture you posted, I had the biggest SMILE on my face. That really touched me! I never had the chance to see him in person, but my mom did on his last U.S. tour. Seeing his smile just lit up my morning and I didn't realize it was from Motown 25, until I read your post, as I remembered watching that on tv 21 yr ago. Wow, what a moment for you, you were blessed to have it and I know you treasure it! I am now trying to see as many entertainers as I can, because we never know if it will be the last, since we are not promised tomorrow. I am thankful everyday that I awake and see another day.Thank you for sharing your memories with this forum.

What a great, for-real, elegant, spontaneous pic of the really mesmerizing Mr. Gaye. He'd still look great today!

That is sooooo cool! How on earth did you do it, Linda? And do you have any more pictures of Marvin?

I only saw Marvin in concert once, a year before the Motown 25 show. The thing I remember is how he came out at the end of the show in silk pajamas and did this little strip number. And how embarrassed he looked to be this sex symbol to an audience of screaming woman. It clearly was not what he wanted to be doing and I was embarrassed for him in a way. I hope that he can see from where he is now that his music, especially his socially conscious music, is withstanding the test of time. He was truly ahead of his time.

Marvin was and will always be the man.
