Cooley High is on TV One right now, and they are beating my boy Cochise. Doesn't it just move you when they are beating him? Breaks your heart. I wanna jump into the TV and help Cochise out! Damn!

Perfect song at the end you to lift your spirit back up, " Reach Out, I'll Be There."

What soul songs have been used effectively in other movies to stir emotion?

I can't watch Cooley High, I've only seen parts of it and that song~
"It's So HArd To Say Goodbye" I don't listen to that either...just too much 4 me.

I like hearing Curtis Mayfields' Keep On Pushing on the movie "Get On The Bus"

Each time I hear "Reach Out, I'll Be There" on the radio, I think about that movie...Preach running through the cemetery, then they tell you what happened to the characters...then they roll the credits...I love "Cooley High"!

As far as using soul music in movies, Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" used in "Malcolm X"...hands down, grips me everytime!!!

COCHISE WAS HOT! That was my first thought when I saw that movie for the first time.

Ju, I feel you on that! i had to laugh a little, because I feel the same way whenever I watch it too. Funny how movies can make you want to act! I was like "dang y'all didn't have to keep beating him! Then you have to remember that it is based on a Eric Monte's life. Very good movie that has become an old school favorite. I liked when Glynn Turman came home late and his mother was waiting for him, she told him to get the belt. When he came back to give it to her she had fallen asleep. You are going to make me go and watch that movie again!

I hate when his head hits that girder, or whatever it is, too. Seen the movie a thousand times but that scene still impacts me.

On the cd insert of the soundtrack there is a picture of Damon with his fist cocked but somebody graphically eliminted Cochise from Damon's clinch. At least Cochise got away on the cd insert! Somebody must've felt the same way we do!

"A Change Is Gonna Come" was perfect for the Malcolm X movie given its lyrics, and also since they were friends... and eerily, were gunned down only months apart.
