Can anybody tell me where I can get a copy of this rarely seen movie ? I was told this movie is highly controversial. Harvey Keitel starred in it. It showed the music business in a true light, so much it got limited play.

It's been officially released on video, my copy is a copy of a rental. I quite liked it, and the live footage of vintage EWF is fantastic. It has also been re-titled "Shining Star", presumably after the single took off.

That's OK. I found it at half.com ............but, the lowest price is $99, the highest, $195.
I'll buy a copy off anyone that can make me one, but not at those prices. Damn !! I guess this movie was controversial.

I never heard of this movie, which was retitled Shining Star. Earth, Wind & Fire had refused to allow the LP to be released as a Soundtrack LP. I never knew of this movie when the LP came out & after reading the LP cover, I always wondered "what movie". The main thing that I read about the movie is that is sucked. I would love to see it for myself, as I think that it could be interesting. If my imformation is correct, EW&F portrayed "The Band" in the movie. $99 is the cheapest???? Man, they better put it on DVD, except I imagine that they don't expect it to sell. I'd settle for a copy, I just want to see it for myself.

Juice, FYI
That Shining Stars title is a documentary of the band's history that came out in August 2001.

That's the Way of the World was no cinematic masterpiece, but I found it entertaining.

Sudi, that's more the reason why I gotta check it out :-)

Grubman:
While the EW&F album had mentioned on the back cover that the music is featured in the Sig Shore production of the film, the movie itself, according to Maurice White, "opened & closed in one week."
If you pick up the remastered CD of "That's The Way Of The World", the liner note writer was the screenwriter of the film. The notes may give insight as to what happened behind the scenes.

Also, it was re-titled 'Shining Star', any dvd documentary with that name is coincidential, I think it comes up in Leonard malton's guide as 'Shining Star' too..

Thank for the info Grubman. I guess that it's not the 1975 That's The Way Of The World LP that had it's title changed after Shining Star hit. I would love to see the Sig Shore movie, it's not even in Blockbuster.

Although I've never seen the movie, Iheard it was good. My Brother saw it when he was in Germany.
I've never heard of it being shown here in US.
