Tune in to my radio show "The Love Zone" on WHCR 90.3FM April 9, 2004for my interview withthe legendary
"Mr. Weldon A. McDougal III"
(Former Motown Promotions Guru)
Being one of the most important person in theMotown promotion department
Weldonhas been in themusic industry for overfifty years.

Hiscareer began in 1959, whenhe started a group called the LARKS
(he sang bass). Then some friends and him started a record label in Philly called Harthon records. BARBARA MASON, EDDIE HOLMAN,and TheVOLCANO'S, were just some of his artist the started. In 1962he was hired byMotown recordsas theeast cost promotion manfor the now famous record label. With the helpof Weldon, Motown enjoyed some of their most remarkable achievements. Beginning with continuous radio air play from disc jockey all over the map. Weldon was responsible for making sure artists like "THE TEMPTATIONS, THE FOUR TOPS, THE MIRACLES, THE SUPREMES, THE CONTOURS and even THE JACKSON FIVE were on time for interviews.

To put it straight if it wasn't for Weldon a lot of those artist and others may not have been as successful as they were. Even though it was his job Weldon also had the pleasure of living the dream of becoming friends to these artist. They would often sleep over at his house whenever they were in town. He would also be the one to keep them out of harms way at time. There was so much that he contributed to there career that has gone unnoticed.

Well, now it's his time to shine. We'll be discussing his career at Motown, the juicy little tidbits that happened offstage, in the recording studios, and much more. I advise you to have your tape recorders on for this interview. It's going to a once in a lifetime event.

We'll also be taking your calls LIVE on WHCR 90.3FM 9PM est.

Sounds like a great interview. Weldon's a good guy and I'm sure he has a lot to say. Best of luck, both of you.

Hi NYC Diva, sorry for the delayed reply. Been really busy. I hope you told the OTHER crew about the interview this Friday night with the man......

I spoke to him this morning and he can't wait to get in the studio.

I truly do hope all of the posters call in and speak to him. He deserves his flowers while he's still with us. Every time we speak, he has so much information about the industry that I know the listeners are going to love hearing.
