I'm hoping some of you can spare a moment to help with a project that with all my heart I wish I didn't have.

My secretary's baby girl passed away very suddenly at weekend. She was just two, an only child, and a little angel on Earth. Her parents are so brave and proud and thankful for the time she was entrusted to their care. I'm somewhat humbled.

The family have asked me to compile a CD of background music to play at the after funeral gathering, and I could really use some suggestions.

I'm looking for postive songs from any genre with a message of hope and love, plus some appropriate childrens songs. While the parents are spiritual people, they are not chuch-goers, so gospel or worship music might not be 100% appropriate

Lyrically, the songs should NOT be too much on point, and certainly NOT downbeat. For instance "My Girl" would probably fit just fine, but "Someday we'll be together" would be crass. "The Candy Man" would be good, and definitely "Whistle down the wind"... but "Bridge over troubled water" might be too sad. "Angels" (Robbie Williams), too obvious.

I'll probably include 50% instrumental tracks, otherwise it could all get a bit too much.

Can anyone else pick up on this vibe and offer a suggestion or two?

Your thoughts are very much apprectiated, thank you.

Colin (Dayo)

Saudade by Bauhaus/Love and Rockets. A beautifully sad instrumental. It doesn't need lyrics.

My prayers to the family.

MJ's "Gone Too Soon" might be appropriate. Also, John Lennon's "Imagine."

God bless you in your endeavor. Hopefully with this, you can give them peace and solace to help them get through their tragedy. Although I don't believe they'll ever completely get through it.

Vapour Trail (Trespassers William)

You can get it off of Kazaa as they probably won't have it in the stores.

I remember a song from Dexter? redding (otis's son) from the late seventies, it was called 'God Bless,' worth a listen if you can get it.
could be appropiate as it was sung by a young voice.
sad news to hear though.

in our thoughts,

Tony

The Eric Clapton song he wrote when his son Conor passed away. Something about, "Will I see you in Heaven?"

Can I recommend James "D Train" Williams' "Bye Bye Old Friend" from his 1988 Columbia album "In Your Eyes" That album maybe hard to find, but worth investigating.
