Galactus, a couple of Leroy's cd's to look out for :

Closer To The Source 1978 ( which contains the title track and the best version of Get To This )
8 tracks in total. Released on Charly cpcd 8310

The Very Best Of Leroy Hutson ( compiled 1997 )

Released on Deep Beats deepm 007

Contains 16 tracks, including the awesome Classy Lady, The Ghetto 74, Lucky Fellow,It's Different.

Richard, get out of my head (again)! ;o)

My favorites songs by Leroy Hutson is So In Love With You & Paradise.

I believe he also wrote the song, "Can This Be Real" by Natural Four on the Curtom label.

Hello everyone :-

Here's a link to the "All Music Guide" for what they have to say about LEROY HUTSON.

The funny thing is I can see no mention of his work with THE IMPRESSIONS in the discography.

As far as I'm aware he was their lead vocalist on the "Times Have Changed" L.P.

Thanks Rich......I'll keep an eye out for those...

I really like Hutson's work on the first non-Mayfield Impressions LP, "Times Have Changed"....as well as "Curtis in Chicago." I'd love to nail down some of his solo efforts.....

I also notice on Amazon that the British label Sequel has put out some nice two-fers containing Hutson's original albums.....Unfortunately, they seem to be currently out of print. That sucks.

If they're anything like the Sequel editions of Mayfield's albums, they might be worth an order if they ever become available again....Sequel always does a terrific job great remasters of the sound; and top notch liner notes....It's a nice way to collect all the albums by a particular artist....

Hello Everyone.

Galactus .. some of the Charley LEROY HUTSON releases are still in stock at John Manship ... see link

http://www.raresoulman.co.uk/stock_view2.htm/CD/?Artist=HUTSON%2C+LEROY

I've don't recall those Sequel toofers on Leroy, but they did put out a whole series of IMPRESSIONS toofers around 1996/97 including "Check Out Your Mind"/"Times have Changed" .. NEM CD 843.

I'd recommend that to anyone. In fact I'd recommend ANY Leroy Hutson release!!

Oops ..

The link didn't work properly, but they ARE there .. the database of stock must be at a higher level than my link!

If you click on "Soul C.Ds" and go to page 6 you can find them!

I played on some leroy stuff when I was "moonlighting" at Curtom in the late seventies.

A few years ago, Charly was issuing some Curtom releases on CD. I'm not sure if that song was on any of them, though.

Galactus : you can find some Leroy Hutson CD's for sale on ebay, at "Buying it now" price, at £ 3.99 ($ 7.00 +).
Handsome : "So in love with you" is a beautiful song, and the first one I've heard from him, as it's the first track on his first LP "Love oh love". But I don't know where to find it on CD.
Bobby : on which LP's did you "moonlight" ?
