Personal Note: I was with Jimmy Ruffin last at the very grand opening of the Motown Cafe in Manhattan in September of 1995. J.R. flew over from England just to be there. The big event was hosted by Miss Martha Reeves (who performed, too). Motown guests included: Michael Jackson, Supreme Mari Wilson, The Temptations (who also performed), Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops (some), Edwin Starr, and many other Motowners -- plus non-Motown singers such as Luther Vandross (who I personally introduced to Martha & Jimmy). There were so many professional basketball players (active and retired) there -- including Dr. J -- that the next morning I had a slightly stiff neck. I've gotta retrieve the great pix!
