What became of the group Soul For Real and Troop? They had a very nice sound and great dance moves.

Wasn't Troop from the Cleveland or Cincinnati area? Maybe they stayed in Ohio. Both groups were good.

Remember the dance called The Troop?

The guys in Troop were from Cali. The rumor going around was that one of the members was Eddie Levert's--outside of marriage--son. I've never been able to verify this.

Hello everyone,

Wasn't Chucki(sp?) Booker a member of Troop?? It was said he was Barry White's godson.

Peace!

From my recollection, Chuckii was never a part of Troop.

I really love My Heart by Troop. If I remember correctly there was a tennis shoe at K-Mart called Troop. They came out the same time as the group. I love Every Little Thing You Do by Soul For Real. I think Heavy D had something to do with this group.

I still play 'Every Little Thing You Do', that was such a catchy song.

Does anyone know anything about an unreleased track Soul 4 Real did around 97-ish which heavily sampled George Benson. I may be wrong as I'm going by memory, but I think the sample was 'Give Me The Night' and was never authorised? I just remember hearing Trevor Nelson play this on radio 1 and that was the one and only time I ever heard it.

I did an interview with Troop and took photos of them for Lowrider Magazine. They were managed by Steve Cohen, who was the longtime manager for Mary Wells. Once Troop got hot, Mary got cold!! Steve dropped her; then as Troop got bigger; they dropped Steve!!

I got to work with Steve lots of years later; when I booked Brenda Holloway and other stars into a club he was running in Pasadena, CA

There's Spookey again talking about pictures that probably won't see the light of day on this forum!

Hi Souljunkie,

Are you talking about "Candy Rain"? If that is the one where Heavy D did the raps, then I know that sample but it escapes me at the moment. I think it was Mr Magic - Grover Washington, I believe.
