What is exactly going on with this legend? It would be nice to hear from him again.

Hi B. Soul, I've passing by this thread from time to time. It's sad to see threads in the forum go by un-noticed and un-answered, at least I post something. If you have any of his records, the only answer I can give ya is listen to the lyrics of "Runnin' Away".

I could answer that for you .......... Puff Puff Pass. Know what I mean?

Don, I did post on the previous thread about Sly, but the question being asked on this topic cannot be answered by anyone... Very few people have seen Sly and even less who talked to the man these past years... believe me I know the two biggest Sly fans in the world (their book is going to be awesome... they have been researching for years) and they can't even talk to him...
Sad but true...

Someone on another board recently asked about Sly, the following is a reply :::::::::

If you really want to find Sly try Jerry Golstein at Avenue Records.

I worked with Sly for the better part of a year at a live in studio I used to run and at a private residence in the Hamptons. When I get around to writing a book...a few chapter will be devoted to that year.

That was around 1988....they were trying to do some kind of record to tie into the Woodstock 20 year stuff. I really don't want to get too far into it, but the festivities were abruptly terminated by the FBI....when they surrounded the house and removed the client. Bringing the dude's slippers to the lock up was not fun.

That being said, Sly was...maybe is, somewhere beyond brilliant. He is frighteningly bright. I remember distincly one day when he was high as a kite.....someone in the room said something he really wanted to know about and he was nearly instantly, straight is the wrong word, but aware, as if not high. I've never seen anyone do that.

Anyway, he is totally creative with sounds and voice. Having that voice in my speakers was a high point. His voice is huge. And his contribution to funk and humanity is large. If he only treated himself with the same respect his songs preached.

Wonder B, it was wrong of me to have said what I said. From reading your comments, you we're being passionate with statement and from from what you we're expressing, I do understand. But he's going to be who he is regardless be it right or wrong. Who I feel sorry for is The Family Stone and other's that replaced them including Little Sister as well. I was suppose to went to P-Funk show here last nite, but decided against not going. Cause Clinton is doing and pullin' the same Sly routine and his BS is becoming lame and quite frankly played out, and he's too stupid to check hisself. And I'm not speaking from a grouppie point of view neither-. The band is totally cool, somehow they'll get PO'd, but I love em tho. Their not wrong, though it would be wrong of me to call 'em all a bunch of SOB's This two jokers are contrary and dizzy like fools/phools chasing their wagging tell tales.

Hi Grubman, Im one of the guys Wonder B is talking about. We are writing a book about Sly & The Family Stone and Freddie and Rose will authorize it. Wonder B is not totally right, cause we agreed with the family to contact him after we have written the draft version. So there is a change....

So far we spoke to 130 persons inlcuding someone that was there that time with the FBI, you are talking about. I really would like to get in contact with you. I understand that you want to write your own book, but maybe you can share some info with us...it would make the Sly story more complete.

I can be reached at twinns@kabelfoon.nl
Please let me know

Cheers
Edwin

Ahhhhhh Edwin you hide that news from me ! LOL
Anyway what I was merely saying is that you will still have to write the book without being able to talk to Sly... maybe he will cooperate once he reads the st version... I do hope so... but with the amount of materila you have already gathered it seems you know more altogether than just anybody else... that's for sure!

Sly MUST be freaked-up (clean version)
If he could get his shit together and was 50% coherent , he wouldn't be subject to the b____it inferred or implied by the C___AP expressed or implied in previous contributions on this thread.
Sly is as F____ ed as Brian Wilson.
Wilson has some support that Sly ain't got.
Whaddya'all think THAT infers?????????????
