I was rummaging through some of my 45's and came across this single by Gradual Taylor / Out of control. "Love is holding me together" slow side.
"You got me "jerkin" all over the place" fast side. Mastered at Sonic Sculpture. Gwynnewood Studio. Both sides written by G. Taylor.

I don't remember when I picked up this single but by the design of the label, I would say it probably came out in the 80's.

Can anyone shed some light on the artist ?

I forgot to mention that the label is Queensgate Records.

I know Gradual Taylor. A friend of mine used to play with him. He's in Cincinnati. I remember him coming back here in the 80's. Queensgate is an industrial area here.

Gradual works a lot of the suburban bars with a sequenced show and various live musicians and singers mixed in. The band is usually no more than 4 or 5 pieces. It's typical bar-band stuff.

Hey Sudi: great to hear from yah. What's happenin' with the urban recording scene in the Queen city ? Who's hot ?

Could you explain what part of the city folks a referring to, when they speak of "over the Rhine"?

Over the Rhine is the area just north of Downtown - separated by Central Parkway. It was originally a densely populated German community, hence the name "Over the Rhine." In latter years it became the principle designated refuge of the down-and-out. A lot of Appalachians settled there, then Black people. OTR has been the center of a lot of drug and prostitution activity - as featured in the movie Traffic.

Recently, there has been a lot of gentrification in OTR, and a small entertainment district - the "Main Street" area has been developed. The resultant displacement, selective law enforcement, and battles over real estate have contributed to the tensions in Cincinnati that have hit the national news from time to time.

Hey Sudi: I've been to your city many times but no one could properly explain OTR to my satisfaction. Since I'm usually in a rush, I guess this doesn't help either.

Now I got the 411 on OTR courtesy of you,Sudi.

Thanks
