The Fawns from Washington DC who did "Wish You Were Here" which was a song about Viet Nam, on the CapCity Label, were three sisters out of S.E. Washington, DC.

Mildred, Anne, and Avis Harrell.

I believe Bettye Swann sang with them early and Avis the baby sister joined when Bettye left. But check that out further.

There was also a group called the Fawns out of Philadephia PA. they might be the ones you are looking for.

THANKS AGAIN CHIP FOR REMEMBERING THE FAWNS,I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE OVERLOOKED[THE GROUP AND THE SONG]BUT IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE WITH SO MANY GROUPS AND GREAT SONGS ON THE AIRWAYS IN THOSE DAYS YOUR GROUP WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A BIG PUSH TO COMPETE ON A CONSISTANT BASIS.

Isn't Avis living in Los Angeles now? I think she was singing with the Funk Brothers when they came to Los Angeles? Was that her?

I wonder if the ladies are related to singer Vernon Harrell from the 60's or Grady Harrell from the late 80's, early 90's.

R&B according to Avids Bettye Swann did not sing with the Fawns. Perhaps Wade Marcus (who produced the Fawns on RCA) produced some of Bettye's stuff which may have sounded like the Fawns style?

Bettye Swann's group was based in Los Angeles
- around '64. I think this is just a case of
duplication of group names with no other connection.

That sounds better than my Wade Marcus reference.
