Whatever became of Peter, the original owner of this Detroit record store ?
Who is the current owner ?

Is Nolan still working for Car City Classics ? He used to work at Record Collector on Grand River which was owned by Warren (big guy).

Peter Dale, original owner of Car City, now owns Encore Records in Ann Arbor. Bob Setlik has owned Car City for at least 10 or 15 yrs.
Warren Westfall still owns Record Collector which is now located on W. 9 Mile in Ferndale. He had a second store in Livonia but I think he's closed that one.

I often wonder what went down to cause the closing of Sam's Jams. This used to be the happening record store in the burbs.

Whatever became of the Sam's Jams owners ?

I understand my favourite staffer from Sam's Jams, Chris Flanagan, is the dude running Street Corner Records on 13 mile rd.

"Sam" overextended himself. He bought the Magic Bag and also opened a second store in ... Plymouth/Canton, I think. Sam's was a great shop.
Sam moved to LA some years ago and I'm not sure what he's doing now.
I remember when Sam's Jams was a small used record shop on Woodward & 9 mile.

Cornbread...was wondering the same thing. I don't go to Car City as often aI used to but I haven't seen Nolan in a while.

Cornbread, yea Chris I believe now owns Street Corner. Lynn Goretz sold her share to him and opened her own shop, Jazz n Jams, on Telegraph just south of 9 mile on the east side of the street. It's a great store.

Cornbread/Jim G...I really miss Sam's Jams a whole lot.

Is Street Corner that place on 13 Mile and Southfield? They have a fairly decent supply of vintage vinyl, but not very much that could be considered truly rare or obscure, and definitely nowhere near the selection Sam's used to have.
