This past Saturday, Jim and I went to the Heavenly Harmony concert at the Bucks County Sheraton near Philadelphia, Pa. Full line-up of excellent (doowop) groups including Earl Lewis & the Channels (with SD member Joe Rivera, one of the nicest people on this planet), Royal Blues, Legends of Doowop, Devotions, and others. One of the featured groups was the Fiestas ("So Fine"). They were introduced as having one original member "the original lead for the past 40 years", Bobby Moore. He looked the right age/vintage and had a wonderful voice, doing a great lead on "Last Night I Dreamed" and "A Hobos Prayer". However, me being the curious person that I am, I looked in 3 different of my discographies (Soul Harmony Singles, Ferlingere's "Discography of Rhythm & Blues & Rock & Roll Vocal Groups", and Mitch Rosalsky's "Encyclopedia of Rhythm & Blues and Doo-Wop Vocal Groups". Nowhere did I see the name "Bobby Moore" listed for the Fiestas! Three different people at the show claimed he WAS an "original" Fiesta! (With over 600 people there, I did not get a chance to actually meet him to talk to.) Does anyone here know anything about him, and if he came in on a later (perhaps late 60s, or early 70s's) Fiestas group? Just curious if he's "real or Memorex"!!! :)

Thanks for your help,

Nikki

Anyone??????

Has this gone unanswered because:

1) No-one here knows?
2) No-one here cares?
3) The thread just went so far down the list that it got overlooked?

I'm interested,...but, unfortunately I can't help. I bought all The Fiestas' records on Old Town, but know little about the group, including member names, and when they joined the group. My old memory is no more what it once was; but Bobby Moore doesn't sound like the name of the original lead singer of the group, who sang lead on "So Fine". I've seen references to the group's lead singer, a few times, many years ago. Yet, the name Bobby Moore doesn't ring a bell with me, when connected with The Fisestas. My guess is that he took over the lead later, or joined the group after 1962 or 1963. Mind you, I have nothing to back up my statement, and my memory has been known to fail me. I hope someone on SD with the knowledge to answer your question does so.

Just thought I'd put in an observation - don't know anything about the members of the Fiestas, BUT...if they're saying "original lead for the last 40 years" - hard to believe, but at 2004, 40 years ago would mean 1964, which is way past the time of the Fiestas' hits.

The Fiestas had some solid releases in the mid seventies on Respect (Stax sub. label) and Arista which were recorded in Memphis.

Nikki, I thought that the group line-up was Tommy Bullock, Eddie Morris, Sam Ingalls and Preston Lane. Then after their Old Town releases Tommy Bullock leaves the group to join Cleveland Horne to become part of Tommy & Cleve on Checker. Tommy Bullock then returns to the group for one more release on Vigor. Maybe Bobby Moore filled in for the departed Tommy Bullock around 1964 ~ '65? I don't know but that would make it roughly forty years, so it could be a possibility.

Hi Nikki,

I'm a bit rushed for time but I've NEVER heard
of a Bobby Moore in connection with the Fiestas.
Bobby Harris yes - but not Bobby Moore.

Could he be the Bobby Moore who was in Bobby
Moore and the Foremost (they recorded for Red
Bird around 65/66) ?

Davie

Thanx to everyone above for your responses. The lineup (Boss) you gave is listed in my discographies (that I listed in my original post). Soul Harmony Singles also lists a group of Fiestas from the late 70s. My thoughts were that this "Bobby Moore" who was introduced to be "the original lead of the Fiestas for the past 40 years" ---- why was he not listed in ANY of the discography publications???? Davie, if he was in the Red Bird group as you mentioned above, I have no clue. This was the first time I've seen "The Fiestas" perform, and I didn't (and still don't) know anything about any of the members. Perhaps this Bobby Moore only SANG with them from time to time "in the last 40 years" and didn't RECORD with them????????? I'll keep searching....I'm not loosing any sleep over it, just curious! Thanx again. P.S. He sure sounded good on most songs they performed, but very weak on "So Fine".

Nikki,
Looked in Norm Nite's "Rock On", Jeff Kreiter's "Group Collector's Record Guide", and Osborne's "Rockin' Records 2003 Buyer's Guide" and none of them have any reference to Bobby Moore with the Fiestas. Have you talked to Marv Goldberg? By the way any new Harmony Train shows in the future. Fantastic stuff!!

What are the names of the original members of the Fiestas, and where were they originally from (city)

Weren't the members Boss listed above, the original members (Tommy Bullock, Preston Lane, Eddie morris and Sam Ingalls)? Or did they have a 5th member at the start? I know they were from the East Coast; but not sure if they were from Philly, NY or NJ. I'm sure some of our NY/Philly people on SD can tell us.
