I had to suffer through watching my alma mater the South Carolina Gamecocks get whipped by Memphis today in the NCAA tourney. We Gamecocks seem to suffer every football and basketball season......To put it in perspective for you mid-westerners, we are often called the "Chicago Cubs" of college sports down here in the southeast.

Anyway......the best way for me to get over this stuff is to play some soul or reggae that's uplifting. Any suggestions?

I thought about "Love is Like a Baseball Game" by the Intruders.......but, ooops....wrong sport!! lol.....

Maybe I should just play "Cryin' Time" by Ray Charles......

I suggest "BORN TO LOSE" by Ray Charles.

Galactus,

Ordinarily I'd also be "Drowning In My Own Tears" 'bout this time. But the B-ball gods are smiling big time on me so far this tourn. 15 out of 16 yesterday, and so far only W. Mich. and E. Mich. hurt me today. Plus, in another office pool where you're given individual teams, of my five choice, 3 are No.1's. Anyways the following have worked at various levels for me in the past.

Only The Lonely
A Fool In Love
Busted
Is She Really Going Out With Him?
It's All In the Game

just about any song dealing with loss and regret works. Gotta run home in time to catch the second batch.

Good suggestions all.

Plenty of tunes I need....to play through the summer....until Lou Holtz and the boys put us through another agonizing fall.....Cubs fans the Gamecocks can sympathize!!

"Cold, Cold World" by Teddy Pendergrass is a good one.

"Something to Believe In" by Curtis is another.

Soul music is taylor-made to pick you up when you're down isn't it?

Galactus,

If I remember correct, you're no stranger to the blues...lol. BTW, loved watching Nevada put a Gonzaga on Gonzaga a few minutes ago.

You also might want to play Memphis Soul Stew, for reasons I'm sure u understand.

Hey Destruction....
In three days, i lost 3 teams in my first round pool. Eastern Washington, Washington and Gone-zaga. Been a rough weekend out here. As to my pool chances...

..."She's Gone" Hall and Oates.

But then, there's always baseball season. Where's my copy of "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request" by the late Steve Goodman.....

Doug,

I was flying along pretty high myself till MD (homeboys) and Stanford lost. Thank god Conn pulled it out. I've got them going to the Final 4 from the Phoenix pod. However with 17 to go in the 2nd half and Carolina down 9, I don't know whether to put on Tobacco Road or Going Down Slow.

It's probably right behind your copy of the Super Bowl Shuffle...lol.

I think Louis Armstrong recorded that number under the title "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, You Rascal You".
