Who was the one character (patron) who used to attend the rock n roll shows in your town? In Philly there was this lone, old White man we called "Pops" who used to sit down front in the middle section of the Uptown. Pops would be going off, dancing, flailing his arms, the whole nine (of course not on the beat)!

Does anyone from Philly remember this man? I was told he used to be at all the 76ers games in the 70s. I'm sure he's long gone but whenever I think of the Uptown shows I think of "Pops" doin his thang.

Of course, I can't forget "Ms. Eva" from the Apollo. Can any NYers elaborate on Ms. Eva?

Yep,
Pops was quite the character indeed.
It seemed that he was at EVERY show.

Also, there was a lady named Miss Pearl who lived on the little street right behind the Uptown, who sold dinners for the performers when they came to town.

Just imagine all of the great sixties acts who went to Miss Pearl.

Yep, I ate a many a "platter" at Ms. Pearl's on Carlisle Street. One memorable dinner was courtesy of Bobby Moore of the Miracles. I have the picture but don't have the capability of scanning. (I sure wish I could share them.)

Ms. Pearl's was the place to grub down, it was also the place to be close up to the entertainers. I met Levi, Obie, Duke and Lawrence(Four Tops) at Miss Pearls. I also hung out with most of the Motown Revue artists at Miss Pearls.
