I would love to see the Funk Brothers, along with the Andantes do a tour featuring the magical, timeless Sounds of Motown. Their music was to refreshing and just plain clean funk, if you will, that EVERYBODY wanted to relate to by getting out of their seats and dancing the night away!!! I know first hand because I was there!!!Bring back those good ol' days with Motown's Famous Funk Brothers music!!!

Hi Cal, from London! Great to see you on here. I hear you had fun in the UK recently - what a week that was! I wished I had been able to see you perform 'up North'. Please come over again as soon as possible. Yes, we all want to see The Funks over here too and cannot wait. I will be in line to clean their shoes and welcome them to our shores. I must say, the sleeve notes you wrote (?) on The Velvelettes Motown compilation I have, summed up your special time with Motown perfectly. I remember I looked for a compilation for years and was thrilled when I found it.

Wow, the nearest thing to speaking to Cal in person! Thank you SO much for all your music! And big, big thanks to John for sending me the photo. I'll treasure it! If the Funk Brothers tour again, please sing with them Cal! We're waiting.

I am glad to be a part of the "Soulful Detroit Forum!" This is a perfect vehicle to communicate and express my sincerest thoughts and share memories of my personal experiences with Motown, and I thank you for creating this opportunity in which to do just that. It also allows me to stay in touch with some significant people who have supported me throughout the years. And yes, I do look forward to a return engagement/trip to the U.K. in the near future. It's ALWAYS my sincere pleasure to be with my friends and fans there!

For the record, CAL sure did write the notes for the Velvelettes collection. I took my usual editor's role. But she did 'em herself.. and she remembers everything.

Harry/Cal - of all the sleeve notes I have read, it is this one that stands out. They are humble and honest notes worthy to accompany the CD. I may just have to read them again now!

Cal! I thank all The Velvelettes for the signed photo you kindly did for me as well. We love you too! You must tell us how you felt at your recent gig in the UK when you went on stage and saw the interest you generate over here.

Hello Cal,
Welcome aboard...you're in for a very exciting ride! You and I met about 11 years ago, when Ian Levine was recording the remaining Motown artists who stayed in Detroit. We either met at Sylvia Moy's studio, or at dinner at the St. Regis. Kim Weston, the Andantes, Carolyn Crawford, the Elgins, and Frances Nero were there. Anyway, it's good to hear you're doing well, and we hope to have on the forum for a long time!
