Here's the URL for the web site of the Blue Suit
label which has some interesting looking CD's.

www.blue-suit.com

Veterans Stanley Mitchell, Joe Weaver and Kenny Martin have been recording again and the label
has also issued compilations of Detroit blues
acts. HAve a look - there's a lot of good photos.

Davie

Thanks for this link - some great music on offer there by the look of it.

Guys - if you go there, check out the Joe Weaver "Sugarlove Baby" track on the mp3 downloads page - a very tasty piece of traditional R&B indeed. (Mack Rice's "Mustang Sally" ain't no slouch either!)

I produced the Blue Suit CD by the Pioneers. I have managed Joe Weaver for a number of years and that association led me to both Stanley and Kenny as Joe had backed them both with his group, the Blue Notes, back in the day. We are all very proud of the CD. Record collectors might be interested to note that Johnny O from Tim Tam and the Turnons sings the backgrounds on the Pioneers CD. We broke all records at the CD release party at the Music Menu in Detroit and last week the Pioneers opened for Leon Russell in Toledo. Our next show is Aug 16 at George & Harry's in Dearborn. Also, Joe Weaver will be at the Detroit Zoo doing a concert on July 10 (6pm) and Stanley will be a guest with my group, the Rhythm Rockers at a concert in Palmer Park on July 18 (also at 6pm).

Hi R J Spangler,
Do you know anything about a group called The Pioneers that recorded a song called "Speak Words Of Love" that was released on the Detroit based Universal label? It was arranged by Dale Warren.
TIA, Graham

The Fiats also recorded this on the same label.

Hi David, glad to see you back here.
You`ve highlighted my mistake as it was The Fiats that I was thinking of on that 45.
Which leaves me wondering which 45 a group called The Pioneers recorded! uummmmm...
Graham
