Marilyn called me yesterday for permission to advertise this show on the forum. The forum has a no advertisng policy but Marilyn is a valued contributor to the forum and I see no difference in this than advertsing Dennis Cofffey's book as Dennis is also a valued member here. Besides...take a look at that line-up! And Popcorn Wylie!!!!! I wish I could be there.

Ralph

That's not advertising in my opinion - it's supporting a worthy cause. YOU wish you could be there...? Spare a thought for us deprived Brits! Emanuel Laskey.. wow! (Anyone who gets to see that show is "lucky, lucky, lucky, luck-eeee")

How the heck did you get Emanuel Laskey? I thought he had found religion & renounced music! What a voice! And coupled with Popcorn Wylie! Thanks Marilyn.

Wow Marilyn!! All that great talent and George Young for MC to boot. George alone is worth the price of admission.

We have a few more acts to add to the show. The Volumes, the Royal Jokers,Jay Davis,Frankie "Sugar Chile" Robinson, and R.J.Spangler's group, including Kenny Martin,Joe Weaver,& Stanley Mitchell. This should be the biggest thing to hit the Detroit area. We ARE willing to take this show on the road,if anyone is interested.

Wow and double wow... but I guess "the road" doesn't stretch all the way across the Atlantic :o(

Hi Marilyn,

I posted this on a different thread, and really should have done it on this one. Any interest in getting Jay Johnson (from the Diablos) on the bill for this great show? Or any of the Satintones? I am in touch pretty regularly with Chico Leverett and Jim Ellis of the Satintones, and with Jay. Jay is singing and putting together something with Vern Williams. Vern was with the Royal Holidays in the late 50s, then the Satintones, then the Pyramids on Cub in the early 60s. In the '70s Jay & Vern were part of the 4 Sonics. (Jay was with the original 4 Sonics on Sport in the '60s.) If you have any interest, please email me directly at Dowoplady@aol.com, and I can get in touch with them, or give you their email addresses. I've sent all 3 of them the URL to this wonderful forum, but for whatever reason, they just don't post!! Anyway, thanx for keeping the music alive!

In harmony,

Nikki

Harbourfront in Toronto puts on some excellent shows, from Pharoah Sanders to Femi Kuti & Roy Ayers, I might have (as in I do have but it's buried somewhere) a contact #- there's another group here in Toronto who've brought up some musical surprises in acts who rarely or never come to Canada like Bobby Matos & last summer's smoking reunion of S.O.U.L. whom anyone here who digs Black Nasty & old Funkadelic should try & catch... anyone here know this band or their crazy expensive lp I cannot afford 'What Is It'..?
