Weldon very kindly sent me a copy of this pic which he took in the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The pic also appears in Bill Dahl's book 'Motown The Golden Years'.

Was the Latin Casino a chain? I could have sworn I read somewhere that there's one in Baltimore where James Browns erroniously titled 'Live At The Garden' was recorded... I wander why JB or King Recs or whomever saw fit to lie about that...

James Brown had recorded the album @ the Latin Casino in January 1967 and then later that year played Madison Square Garden for the first time - a HUGE step for a black artist at the time, esp. as a headliner. To "honor" it - i.e., to promote this fact - JB titled his live recording 'Live At The Garden' and had King Records' engineers add arena-styled reverb to the Latin Casino master. Funny thing was, the LP cover illustration depicts the Cincinnati Gardens (hee hee). This album then pushed back the release of 'Live At The Apollo,' recorded only five months after the Latin Casino gigs. And so it went...
Boy, would I love to find a recording of the Temps live at the Latin Casino! There might be reels of them at LEO'S Casino in Cleveland... but that's another story...
