Graham,

"D Peoples" is apparently a pseudonym for
writer / producer Richard Parker.

The BMI listing for "D Peoples" (about 100
copyrights) has many entries showing the writer
as "Richard Parker". It looks as if he used
the Peoples name in the mid-sixties probably as
a way of getting round publishing contracts he'd
entered into as Richard Parker.

He seems to have based in Los Angeles at the time
as his songs were recorded by the likes of Fred
Hughes, Mary Love and Vernon Garrett.

Thanks Davie G,
I'd like to know how this came to be recorded by Rose if he was based in LA. Maybe he paid a visit to Detroit to sell his songs; Do you know of any other Detroit recordings that he wrote?

Graham,

I'd have to check my listings but off the top of my head there's the Contours "I'll Stand By You"
(Gordy 7029, 2/64) the b-side of "Can You Do It"
produced by Andre Williams. Don't know where it
was recorded.

Thanks Davie G,
BTW - I did a search of the BMI site before I posted the initial question but couldn't find any songs for D Peoples. Thanks again.

Graham,

When the intro. screen comes up
1. click on "writer" just under the search box
2. enter "peoples" on the writer query screen
3. click on the first name "peoples d"
4. have fun

If I can find time it would be interesting to
see how many songs we can indentify as being recorded.
