I can't help you locate the man, but he still tours, I saw him twice in the last few years here in Toronto. Might he still live in South Africa? His last cd was called '70', I think, and I don't know the label... funny, I had 'Mace & Grenades' in repeat mode over the week end (offa 'Masekela' lp, UNI -1969 I think)...

Maybe I have the name of the tune wrong, but I thought there was a great cut in the '70s by Hugh Masakela called "High Life." Am I right? Does it exist on CD?

Hugh Masakela was a partner in a production company / record label called Chisa which was
distributed for a time by Motown.

His partner was producer Stewart Levine.

I'd try a search using "Chisa" and / or "Masakela"
and see what turns up.
