Hi guys and gals!!

I would like to mention that my good friend Dave Brown of Philly Archives records has just released a single called Runnin' Back by Charles Mintz released on the Uplook label originally released in 1971.
Coming soon is a vinyl lp of The Emperors best known for their hit song Karate.
Also coming soon are a Sons of Robin Stone cd featuring rare and unreleased songs with bonus tracks from the Aristocrats,
and a Bobby Eli cd of rare and unreleased 70's masters.
Also coming is a cd of funk instrumentals consisting of early tracks by the future MFSB rhythm section and a cd by Herb Johnson.

Also Dave Brown and Bobby Eli are about to launch Impact Sound Studios located in the Philly Archives complex and they are in the process of producing several new artists true to the spirit of the groove.

They can be reached at www.phillymusicarchives.com

Cheers

Hey Bobby -

Great news - we'll look out for it. Hopefully Jim Stewart can supply it too!

I'd be a bit worried if Johnny Mathis did a tribute song, bearing in mind which way his door swings :o0

Hey Bobby, would that be the same Herb Johnson as the 'Herb Johnson Settlement' whose excellent 'Damp F'It Ain't' opens the 'Sound Of Funk Vol 1' cd...?/Erik

Hi Bobby,
When you see Dave Brown, give him my regards.
He was the first collector I used to trade tapes with, almost 25 years ago!

The cd's will be available as soon as they are compiled and we are working on a distribution agreement on several of them.
The Herb Johnson one is the same Herb Johnson and one of the first gigs that I had as a teenager!!
We are just geting the studio together as a joint venture with Dave and I. I wil keep you posted on everything.
Andy, how much did you pay for the Charles Mintz???

Also, we have some decent "vintage" gear and we will have the ability to remix original four track
recordings of yesteryear along with several ampex mono machines. Digital haed disk is also represented!! So we wil have the best of both worlds.

The set-up sounds great. Analog and digital side by side - the best of both worlds, as you say. We look forward to the fruits of your labours - and news of the CD comp/s! You know you have a market over here :o)

Hey Bobby,

This is Darryl Williams (Kae's Son). I need to get in touch with David Brown, I lost his e-mail address but I have a few things I need to talk with him about. Regarding some release stuff of my Dad's. Thanks

Darryl

What can you tell us about David Morris? I love his tracks on the N/S of Philly 3 CD, and I'm sure anyone else who's heard it will too. Any info to add to the little detail on the CD liner?

Carl -

How are you making out with Pro Tools? I had a look, but the price tag rather deterred me from further investigation. (A snip at a mere $10,000.)

Pro Tools is fine - but, I have suspended work on it as it kept crashing and forcing me to save my work. When I tried to re open the programme, it had driver errors and I had to reboot, which takes forever. I will stick by my Logic Audio for the moment as I have things to do, but will, at some stage take a look again in the future. I do need a faster computer with scsi I think to cope with the demand of audio and plug ins, which I would like to dispose of completely at some stage. To hungry for resources. Thanks for asking!

Thanks - I'm perfectly happy with CoolEdit Pro for my own purposes (remastering) - but I'm forever terminally curious when it comes to audio software!

Ritchie,David Morris was also the lead singer of Brother's Guiding Light who also were the Dream Lovers but David was not a Dream Lover though. He had s song called Midnight Lady/ Jack in the Box on Buddah which I produced. He presently resides in Las Vegas. His brother Boyd Morris was known as Mr. Electro!!! Somewhat of a one man band.

Thanks for that little extra. Good to hear he's still around - the liner notes said: "his present whereabouts are unkown." Obviously nobody thought to seek out the font of Philly-wisdom.
