There� I knew that would get your attention! Get out your detective overcoats and magnifying glass. Last weekend, Richard Searling had Soul Sam as a guest on his program, both playing some wonderful records. Soul Sam bought a record discovered by Adie Pearce in a house in Detroit. There is obviously just the one copy found so far and no artists or label name were mentioned, but there were lots of hints.

The label was described as looking as if two brothers had formed it and the writing credits of both sides were Wylie & Hester. The A side is (probably) called �Love Finds A Way� and the flip side �I Need Some Loving�. The group consists of a youngish girl lead with girl backing singers. The backing style is mid 60�s Motown for definite and includes Mike Terry throughout with the A side having a sax break rather like �This Old Heart Of Mine�.

To help you, I�ve listened to the tape a few times and the lyrics sound something like this! I hope Mr. Wylie won�t be too angry for me including them here but it�s all in a good cause.

Ian - I asked Popcorn about this a while ago but he couldn't remember it at all; although it's listed in his BMI file. I have the label's name somewhere - which didn't mean anything to Popcorn either.
Perhaps if he actually heard the songs he might recall the details?

Graham, I tried the BMI website but it's been 'done up' and I couldn't get onto the correct page to enquire. I have a tape of Mr. Searling's show if that helps!

Ian - I'd love to have it. I'm in the process of making a tape for Popcorn right now and it'd be nice to include it.
To get into the BMI site now - just look at the search window near the very top left side of the front page - type in any song title - and you'll then be asked to accept the conditions and then shown all the titles matching your request. Once you're in there - just click onto the blue colored reportoire icon... and bingo.
