In Philly the BEST drummers were Earl Young, Charles Collins, Jerry Jones Quinton Joseph and Keith Benson.
There is a new up and coming drummer right here on this forum named Daren Metz who is WICKED.

Bobby; is Jerry Jones the same one that worked around Detroit a lot in the early/mid 70's? If so he could truly kick - jazz finesse but harder. Also ,can you give me the lineup on two of the underrated guitar pieces of all time; Jerry Butler's Brand New Me and William DeVaughn's "Be thankful For What you Got? Thanks

Hey!

I grew up in Detroit too!! (I forgot to mention that) So Funky Motown-Philly drummers should have been the name of this thread!!!

I cant wait for all of the great musicians to get together and do a "Standing in the Shadows of TSOP"reunion concert! (Although technically I didnt have anything to do with it!):)

Thanks Bobby Eli for everything!! You are DA MAN!!

Right now, Peter is on my S..t list. He has promised to come on the forum but I have yet to see him.

Also let me add a drummer to the list.....Randy Clements. Worked with him in the mid 70's. He used to be with the Human Beings at one time. One of the best " pocket " drummers I ever worked with.
