I am very saddened to announce the death of Cleve Johns Jr., rhythm guitarist and vocalist of the Shaggs. Cleve died of cancer on Friday. The Shaggs were from Miami, but spent an extended period of time in Detroit in 1966, playing at clubs such as the Roostertail... and recording a single for the legendary Detroit Palmer label.
I've posted a full tribute to Cleve, including photos, on my fledgling Florida music forum:

It's in the "In Memory Of... Florida Artists" section.
Cleve Johns was the very first 60s musician I interviewed for my book. He was a great singer, guitar player, and family man, who leaves behind three young children. He will be missed greatly.

Thanks Jeff. Anyone who appeared on the Palmer label gets my full attention! More regrets!
