Can anyone help me with tracing down Ruth Copeland ? Also, is it true that Ruth recorded a 3rd album for Invictus ?

I've only ever seen the 2 that are on the DeepBeats cd... Parliament are credited by members, not by name if memory serves (at 45 bucks each, I er had to pass on buying 'em)...

Marcel, Ruth recorded a third album entitled "Take Me to Baltimore" (for RCA I think?) that came out in '78. I didn't know if you were thinking of that one or not, but I'm guessing not. Several of the players on Ruth's "Baltimore" album (Sailcat Nairobi, Jesse Rae, Kevin Goins, Bernie Worrell & Ty Lampkin) went on to re-group in the Space Cadets in '79 who put an album out around '80. The Funkadelics weren't the only musicians on Ruth's Invictus albums. Bob Babbit & Ray Monette are on there as well but unfortunatley, I don't know which cuts (but I'd love to if anybody does)

Rich; that 3rd Ruth C. lp actually came out in '76; it was on RCA (probably due to Daryll Hall involevement). I heard it once; I remember checking the credits and I don't think any p-funk related guys were on there- I remember Dick Wagner, the Brecker Bros., maybe Jesse rae Hocher..it seemed like standard NY session guys a
at the time

One of the very first "test"recordings we did at Sigma was a Ruth Copeland record called Rover Rover , and it was released on Huff- Puff records.
After that amble gave the O.K. that he would use the studio!!

What I wrote came outta the liner notes from the Space Cadets CD re-issue. All to be taken with a grain of salt I suppose, as the notes also imply that Sailcat was a member of P-Funk. How's the music Steve, what's it like, have you heard it?

Rich; to be honest it was pretty generic and non-descript; in fact now that Bobby E mentions it, some of it struck me as trying to duplicate the Philly sound without using the Real Guys! By the way I have her two Invictus Lps and if somebody ever offered me 45.00 apiece I'd probably jump at it (though I'm sure I'd be vetoed by my son who has his eye on my record collection and knows what's what-in fact since I mentioned this site to him, I noticed he's taken some interest in my few meager Golden World,Revilot,Correc-tone etc 45's. He was already hip to my Rose Williams "Funkedelic"-that's how the label's spelled 45)

Sanctuary Records in the UK are checking the Invictus archives to see if the "rumour" is true that Ruth recorded a 3rd album on Invictus. I do have the "Baltimore" RCA album. Jesse Rae was on the album. Ruth wrote a song on McKinley Jackson and the Politicians album called "Psycha-soula-funkadelic" that was released on Hot Wax/Invictus. I know that she also recorded some tracks with Mike Hampton (Funkadelic) while she lived in New York. But after that, I lost traces......if anyone out there know where I can finde her.......than please tell me.
