i read some where that the honeycones "want ads "became "stick up" and both were usa hits .are there any other storys of of other songs reworked or bass lines etc reworked
in to other songs

The most famous is the Tops' Its The Same Old Song....and I Can't Help Myself

However, on a UK BBC radio programme, it was said by (I think) R Dean Taylor that "I Can't Help Myself" is the same as the Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go"

I remember seeing an interview with HDH where they talked about these two songs. The story went something like this....

I Can't Help Myself was just starting to go off the boil and BG wanted an immediate follow-up. When they played the intro of the new composition to the Tops, they reportedly said, "hey man - it's the same old song!"

It's probably about as true as any other "revised" memory, but it's still a nice story!
