I always wanted to ask someone about this. Here is a Bad Girl with just G on the label. Wax says tlx2207-1. Back also says G on the label. Any comments?
Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn
This is quite an interesting record because (as I understand it) it's the first record to appear with a "Motown" label. But, as it was only a test pressing, and not generally available it's strictly speaking not Motown's debut release.
The first official Motown label single was Motown 1000 - The Satintones' My Beloved

it came out at least 2 ways on Motown..
G1/G2
and 2207
Thrown them my way if you don't want them!

I thought, no - I'll leave this one to the experts... I was checking all day and nobody replied - so I did.
Then I knew that John'd definitely be up next with the rest of the story :o)
Thanks, John!

The reason that I brought this up was because I have seen the G1 and G2 on the label but never just a G. I live about 1/2 hour from Detroit and you never know what was passed out at that time. I always wondered if someone else had ever seen one like this.
Thanks again,
Glenn
