I've looked at that poster my Dad has for years and never quite realized how much talent you got to see for under 3 U.S. dollars!!!!!!! I want to thank everybody who contributes their historical and present tidbits about music, especially Detroit. It has been great to see some of the original figures appear on the Forum with their musical stories and the historians that
are linking it together. Detroit was and still is a GREAT musical collision that blends the ingredients of John Lee Hooker-Blues, Fortune Records-Doowop/R&B/Rockabilly, Royaltones/Thunder Rocks/Lenny and the Thundertones-InstroRock, Motown-R&B/Soul, Hideout-Garage Rock, MC5/Stooges-Punk, Funkadelic-Funk, and strings from Orchestra Hall if so desired. GRAHAM - If I find that box of La Beat records I'll trade ya' for a few J.V.B. records!

Glenn - fantastic poster!
I once saw a stack of 3' x 2' Detroit posters in a Detroit basement - all from the early sixties and featuring The Miracles, Jackie Wilson etc. The owner wouldn't part with them though.

An amazing show - and what value at $2.00!
Couldn't help noticing Willie Tyler & Lester at the bottom - for all these years I've thought WILLIE was the ventriloquist! ;o)

i noticed the mistake in the poster ,my girls ,as by the temptations ,greedy gits, those were the good old days ,9 acts and enough left over ,for a ice cream and some popcorn in the interval, all for about £2 ,mind you the monthly wage back then was about £52 for a 18 year old
i rember seeing donnie elbert and gene latter at watford for £1.75,back then
