Marilyn,

I thought I might add a couple of comments on the photos you posted and identify the individuals in the photo.

On the left as you face the picture is Ed Gandolfo, he played the accordian. To his right is Jack Rainwater, he played guitar and also owned the car in the photo. George Katsakis is to his right and played the saxophone. Next to George is Mike Popoff, he played the trumpet at that time and later switched to Wurlitzer electric piano. In the back is Greg Poppoff, he played drums and is also the twin of Mike. The photo is a picture of the Paragons and probably the last one at that. Shortly after the picture was taken Jack left the group and never became a Royaltone.

The second photo probably has the distinction of being one of the first Royaltone pictures ever taken. In the picture are (in front) George Katsakis (sax) and Ken Anderson (sax) and in the back left is Greg Popoff (drums) Bob Sanderson (guitar) and Mike Popoff who has switched from trumpet to piano. I will add more if there is an interest and tell you more what was going on at the time these two photos were taken.

George,
I had completely forgot about the Paragons.
That was a really great band. Is Rainwater still around? I remember Kenny and his wife were with Jack later on in the Peppermints.
That was another very good band.

His wife's name was Diane. Ken was killed in a plane crash in Florida a long time ago. Their daughter had a band in Florida. I do have some old pictures of the Pepermints. This weekend I will post some old band pictures. George, did you see the picture I posted of the Royaltones on the forum? I believe its under Bluepower?? Before they gave me a link, I had no idea where to post anything. Anyway, its a great picture.

Ralph,

I'm sure Jack Rainwater is still around although I haven't had any contact with him in the recent past but I will see what I can find out. I look forward to seeing you some day, soon I hope.

Are you in contact with Ernie Stratton? When I was 8 years old our family moved from Mckeesport, PA to Dearborn and the first place we lived was upstairs from Ernie and his family, I've known Ernie since I was 8.

George,
Fred Saxon has been in touch with Ernie. He was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I think he just had surgery. I understand he may be visiting Detroit in May. I think DeAnne talked to him.
It would be great to see you George and I will be sure and look you up the next time I'm in Detroit. Tell Gil hello for me.

I can't say for sure, but I don't think that the Barons were originally Jack Rainwater and the Peppermints.

Hi Ralph, isn't it past you bedtime?
I thought The Peppermints/Barons included Lee Rogers and Duke Browner, but can't remember where I got the info' from. Maybe there were two sets of Peppermints?
Cheers, Graham

Fred talked with Ernie's brother. He didn't seem real hopeful about Ernie's condition.
Ernie is a hell of a good guy and he is in my thoughts.

Graham,
the Peppermints I'm speaking of included Jack Rainwater on Guitar, Kenny Anderson on sax, Kenny's wife on organ ( they called her the sweetheart of rock and roll ) Marcus Terry on drums and a bass player that I can't rmember the name of. Maybe George Katsakis will remember for me. It was a very good band.

I have to stay up late Graham. I can't tear myself away from the forum. It's like a drug.

George Played with the Royaltones and can be seen in the photos posted at the top by Marilyn Bond. Ken Anderson is also in one of the photos since he was a Royaltone before he formed the Parliments.

i think mega is interested in the fact that there appears to be 2 sets of parliaments.

the one we are more acquainted with on here was led by GEORGE clinton.

mr clinton later changed the name of his group to parliament.
