Hi David - Why do you ask? I think he passed away a while ago - but I'm not 100% sure. I spoke to Eddie Union in Detroit a few years ago - he's also one of the original members of The Volumes. In fact I think he's singing lead on those earlier gems, such as - I Just Can't Help Myself.
Larry Wright was also a member. (David) Do you remember what Popcorn told us when we were at his house?

My prevous email doesn't seemed to have got through....
Please give my warmest regards to Popcorn. He couldn't recall the name of the guy who owned the A-Go-Go label, but said he had a barber's shop. Maybe he's since remembered?
Cheers, Graham
PS - I prefer the flip side - "It's Okay With Me"

Dave,
The Royaltones backed up the Volumes in the studio in Detroit, we used to rehearse first at Harry Balks office on Alexandrine. They were a great bunch of guys and we had a lot of fun together. One of my favorite songs that we recorded was Oh My Mother In-law. I'm not sure if that is the correct title but it is the theme of the song. I also remember Ernest, in fact he is the only one I remember by name. Bob Babbit and Dennis Coffey were also on those recordings.

I sold Eddie Union a house a few years ago. A really nice person. He said he had a choice between singing and being a father and chose the latter. Worked at Great Lakes Steel for 30+ years and had a great life. He is married to a wonderful woman, Laverne and lives about 15 minutes away from me in the country.

George, Larry Wright was also in The Volumes. They recorded a couple of things on Chex Records before hooking up with Harry Balk.
John - yes they're basically the same group that recorded on Inferno/Impact.
Glenn, You're right - Eddie Union is a smashing guy and I love those 45s released on American Arts.

Dave,
Yes on Alexandrine and Woodward. The building has been gone for quite some time. The year I don't recall except to tell you that it was in the early 60s. Dennis and Babbit were also there and may be able to shed more light.
