Can anyone remember the Tv show Swing time,on CKLW-TV,the Broadcast of this station was in the winter of 65!and the Lp notes mention Record Hops! what was the format of them!! I know some of you guys will know all about the above mentioned and i apologize if this thread has been mentioned before.

Mel,
Record Hops were where acts would perform their latest song - often miming it. DJs would plug the 45 and it was basically a substitute for payola... as the DJ would collect ticket/door money.

And the show on CKLW was Swingin' Time, with Robin Seymour, a WKNR-AM deejay, as the host.
Each week would salute a different high school, and a lot of the great Motown artists appeared on Robin's show. If you do a search on Robin's name on this forum some more info will come up.
