The photo was taken prior to the Beatles tour that Mary was part of and it shows her rehearsing with a group called Sounds Incorporated.
Sounds Incorporated often played with visiting US singers; the photo was taken at The Prince Of Wales Theatre in London's West End.

Mary brought along her own guitar player from Detroit. Did Mary have a regular guitar player that went with her on all of her shows at that
time.

Sounds Inc came to detroit to play at the Club Gay Haven in dearborn some time in the middle 60,s.They all wore black leather uniforms. Most of the detroit musicians that went to see them thought they were kick-ass.They had a line of sax players across the stage,Phil Spectors wall of sound would have discribed them well.
Lynn:P.S.As Babbitt said in his thread, the club wasn,t gay it was just named at an earlier time when the word meant happy.

I've been over to see one of my Motown friends today and he gave me the answer to my question about Mary's bass player.
He has a 1964 newspaper cutting which features a similar photo. His name according to this article is Melvin Turrell. I've never heard of this guy either before or since Mary's visit. Odd thing is I saw Mary on this tour and he must have been on stage with her but I guess my eyes were on her.
David.
