I just received a delightful email from Ron Swope of Minneapolis, Operations Manager of the Motown Museum (1991-6) and responsible for tracking down many of the original artefacts on display in Studio A. I've invited him to join us on the Forum, so I hope that we might see him here shortly.

From the brief reminiscences in his message, I'm sure we'd all love to hear more from him about the work that went into creating the Museum. Fingers crossed!

Ron....

Of course it is flattering...I mean, I took it!!

You would be working at the Museum with the late Doris Holland (check out my picture of her on this site) with Mrs Edwards, Paul Barker and THE Doctor.

You made me and my friends so welcome at the museum. Thank you.

You can now say what you really thought of us detroit crazy fans from little ole England...

John, I saw your incredible pictures of Doris Holland. She was truly a lovely woman. She assisted me in many projects at the musuem and she had many great stories of the old days. I had the privelege of teaching her how to use a computer. Although it was a while before she would finally give up her typewriter. I'll always miss her.

Actually I loved the crazy fans from the Mother Country. To the Brits, Motown was a living thing and not just history. The looks of glee in their eyes and the smiles on their faces as they toured the museum is something I will never forget.

No change here, then...

To quote Paul Simon, we ARE "still crazy after all these years"!
